Champions League revamp

They’ll need way more than 12 if they’re excluded from domestic football

I thought they said it would be 15 to start so the 2 German sides and PSG will eventually fold and join I suspect. With there being 6 English sides I am guessing it would be a closed shop for any others. To be honest it might as well be a closed shop as the difference in finance will make it nigh impossible for a new team to join and compete.

Doesn’t sound that good to me, 11 teams, 6 PL, Inter, Barca, RM, AM, Juve. Be arsed watching them play each other.

Would you stay in and watch Chelsea Vs Arsenal. Nah.

If you were a fan, would you be going Milan, Madrid, Turin, Barca every few weeks.
This isn't about local fans at all. That is being made very clear.

I agree with the very last part, but dunno about the bold bit. Utd had won the league 8 years out of the previous 11 before Abramovich came along
Yes, but United didn’t win it through financial doping. They were rich and spent big but it’s not comparable to Chelsea’s approach and the impact it had on competition.

One of City’s owners is key desires is creating the image that they are a big club, they need to be included to deliver that

I think this achieves the opposite.

Their own fans arent bothered about the champions league and boo the theme.

What will they do after this...its far worse by the owners.

And therein is the issue. Real football fans are against this across Europe but the plastic corporate subscription paying TV fans will think its great

Why would TV fans watch an uncompetitive league?

Just threats so far from both sides. Let’s say it goes ahead. The national leagues could threaten to bar players from national teams. But it’s far easier to just stop picking those players. You will soon see players transferring back into the leagues. It will be like the initial buzz of being lured to China for mega bucks only to find the grass aint greener.

Imagine Richarlison being told he cant play for Brazil....alot of those teams players would rip their contracts up.

Smaller clubs rely on transfer fees from the big clubs for their young talent...without these cash injections these clubs are screwed.

As for us, our 'Sugar daddy' has no interest in our club if this happens....with that goes our funding for a new stadium....and without the big clubs in the Premier league, Sky's next deal (if they even bothered) would be a fraction of what it is now....

I think Moshiri will be very happy actually.

Those sides are thinking short term.

Lots of obsession with Spurs on GOT these day. Seems strange as we are a nothing club apparently.

I think its more that Spurs and Arsenal being in there 'devalues' the argument that its the 'best of the best'.

Just the same as Bayern and PSG not being in it.

That Agnelli at Juve is a snide

100%

The high profile England players generally have a fair number of Asian fans.

Rio Ferdinand used to loved by a lot of fans in Japan

Interesting picture as all of those players will be banned from playing international football and will leave the clubs. The only players they will get will be retired internationals, kids or mercenaries.

Precisely
