New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Thats more like it. I'm gonna have to study on-street parking about about a fifteen minute dash from the ground.
It's shorter walk by just over a tenth of a mile, so on paper the times will be pretty comparable: Sandhills to BMD will take between twelve and fifteen minutes.

Yet, you'd expect there'd be delays entering or leaving the station during the match day rush and perhaps worse so than currently as it'll be the key station.

Right now, it's split between Sandhills with the Soccer Bus (Northern Line) and Kirkdale (Ormskirk and Kirkby branch lines) with people who are walking.

Everyone will be getting off at Sandhills, so you'd expect it'll be quite busy in terms of numbers and would add to the argument of having another station.

The big conundrum!
Old habits I'm afraid. We cross from East Coast so we do our allotted drinks time before the game and like a smart getaway to steal a march on traffic back. Its been a while since I studied the st options but I'm minded to try staying in the confines of the ground when the match is over and maybe have a bite to eat and a beer then. Afternoon games anyway.

Aye, they do.

I have a few drinks before and after the game and I know that I can leave the put ten minutes before kick off and in most cases I'll be in my seat for the whistle.

Likewise after the match, I'm usually in the pub to listen to Soccer Saturday finish the last game, so I very rarely have to worry about the first few busy trains.

BMD, with the lack of pubs nearby, is a conundrums as I'd like to keep a similar routine with the group I drink with, but that simply may not be possible.

While do often have a drink in the Ship before a match, we normally get a taxi to our normal pub for at least one; walking from town each week won't be ideal.

But it might be a necessity unless more places open up within walking distance to the group. There'll be options in the ground but again how will that work out?

Some important points raised there. One thing nobody has mentioned regarding capacity is that the trains on the network are fairly busy on Saturdays in any case with shoppers and people just going out for the day. It's not as if only people going for BMD will be the ones using them.
From The Echo today.........
Nearby Sandhills station is set for a series of improvements funded by Everton as it is expected to be a crucial gateway for fans travelling to the stadium.

I think we will find that in the run up to the stadium being finished there will be one or two drinking establishments opened up in the vicinity of the stadium. At the moment there is not the footfall to warrant it. But also I think the concourse behind the stands will be much better drinking areas than we currently have. Also there will be a fanzone outsite the stadium, not sure if there will be alcohol sold there though

...let’s not forget, match day traffic is only once or twice per fortnight and not at all in the summer. I know there are plans to use the stadium for other purposes and the area should get a general uplift but Everton home games alone might not be sufficient to finance a business.

Yes, but there are a number of developers looking to build apartments and hotels in this area. often the ground floors of these buildings end up being bars or restaurants. There are also projects like 10 streets creating businesses near the stadium, which will bring up to 2,500 people working in the area 5 days a week which brings demand for bars and restaurants. There probably wont be many proper old time pubs though. More likely hipster craft larger emporiums.

Have a feeling places like the IWF and 10 Streets Social will open up, they'd be mugs not to.

Bike lanes need to be introduced from town to BMD and backed up with a nice big bike park near the ground.

North Liverpool will soon be awash with drunken fatties on their kids BMX bikes weaving all over the dock road.

Actually - just thought of a business opportunity renting out electric bikes on match days.

There already is brand new segregated bike lanes up to the stadium as part of the Regent Road upgrade. I doubt people will stay off them on match days though so good luck with it.

Aye, I understood and appreciate all that. I think my concern (well it's not even that) is that I enjoy our recent routine and the ease and relaxed nature of it all.

Standing in a fan zone sounds like torture and when I've been to our Park End version it's been that; I like to sit, chat and relax in a relaxed environment.

Paying extortionate ground prices ain't fun either but understandably it may be the best option as long as it allows fans from each section in the ground.

Let's be clear, I am really excited about moving, but I do think some fans (like me) may be slightly anxious about the change, or more so the routine.

I've been going to Goodison for decades... it'll be a big but an enjoyable shift. Hopefully, we'll find a nice and relaxed boozer nearby to sip my Guinness in.

It will be weird for everyone, I guess when the move happens you will have to do a bit of research and find a place you like. Obviously if you do go to a pub before the game and then we win, you have to keep going there before the game, because it is then the "lucky pub".

They need to be careful with Sandhills or someone will end up on the track in front of a train. It’s very small for the numbers you’d expect to be rushing there after a game.
Be interesting to see what ideas get floated about.
