New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

I normally get the train from Kirkdale to Maghull North after a game ,both platforms are absolutely rammed .The service is every 15 mins but 30 mins on Sundays . Its not always possible to get on the first train due to numbers. Imagine the huge numbers that will be waiting at Sandhills ,its obviously going to be quicker to walk into town and those going North will face a long wait. Do Merseyrail have the capacity to put on extra trains or even fit them into the timetable ?
Last time we were at Wembley I noticed trains were every 3 to 5 minutes and we got away from Wembley Park tube in no time. This is going to be a headache for Merseyrail . Do they have the capacity to put on extra trains or even fit them into the timetable ?
On the subject of a new station Maghull North cost £10m a few years ago and was relatively easy to build in a cutting. The line through Vauxhall is elevated and would present construction problems even if land could be found.

Some important points raised there. One thing nobody has mentioned regarding capacity is that the trains on the network are fairly busy on Saturdays in any case with shoppers and people just going out for the day. It's not as if only people going for BMD will be the ones using them.

Its absolute dive, I work a minute away from it. Staff are nice enough though.

If ever a pub has hit the jackpot its that one.

I wonder who owns the building? Wouldn't be surprised if somebody threw a load of money at them to buy it off them and did it up. Could be a B&B above. That would be handy.

Regarding trains, anybody who is at the end of a line ie Kirkby, Hunts Cross, Ormskirk will be sitting pretty to get to Sandhills. Getting home might be another issue.

There is all sorts going on round there B&B wise at the minute. Quite privy to alot of it because of the job am in. The pub itself has a certain charm but I'd like to think they will be doing it up before to long.

I don't think Sandhills is ideal for huge crowds as its a single platform for all directions, would become unsafe very quickly.

Absolutely. It needs to be really well marshalled. I'm pretty sure there was some kind of mention of this in the planning documents. An area being created outside the station for people catching the train to wait to get onto the platform? Maybe I've imagined that. I'll have to check.

That Spoons will be mobbed before the match, particularly with people from Wirral. Can never understand why they didn't take 2 floors of that building as I don't think the Captain Alexander is big enough. I think it would be a good idea to have Soccerbuses from various points in town. James Street station is an obvious one and a Soccerbuses from there would be well patronised by people from that side of the river.

Extra stop to Moorfields, it's closer and there's The Lion, The Railway, Rigby's, Shenanigans, Tempest, Kitty's Showbar if you like, and best of all none owned by that Wetherspoons blert.

You must be a quick walker. It would take me 30 minutes.

Yeah I get that, everybody is different. I know the route quite well, it certainly isn't viable for a lot of people who aren't fit etc plus is exposed.

There will be seating in the fan area outside.

I know a lot fancy this but I'd rather have a roof. Knowing that area it might be OK being outside for about three games a season.

Yes.... in terms of rail it's approximately 30% better than Goodison for direct services and capacity at Kirkdale, but exactly the same if you currently use soccerbus from Sandhills where the footfall is actually shared across those 2 stations, but the point is, despite that relative convenience of a mass transit system such a small proportion of our fanbase actually use it.

In terms of buses, GP is better served (at present) with routes right up to the front door on walton Lane, Priory Rd and multiple services on County Rd and Queens Drive too. Yet, again despite all this only 40% of match goers use public transport and we're being told that those proportions have to be at least reversed at BMD if we're to avoid grid lock congestion and for the site to work.

Hopefully BMD will prompt greater use of the train, but at only 12-18k seats per hr, and probably reduced parking catchment area too, I think there'll need to be further infrastructure changes to achieve their projected access/dispersal targets.

The transport plan is the one thing that stands out to me as underwhelming though I have a sneaky feeling there's more to come on that score. I hope so as I'll be walking unless the weather is bad in which case I'll be on the train. If there's no roofed provisions for a beer or bars nearby it's a case of being 'coralled' at Sandhills.
