Im not at all confident Madrid do them. Im nowhere near as into footy as I used to be, just checked the Madrid squad and i barely recognise the names.

UEFA want them in the competition, they even changed the rules in 2005 to let them in, and blatantly cheated us out of a place in the main competition.

The team that finished 4th in the league used to have to play a 3rd round qualifying game to get into the Champions League proper, so it was more bad luck of the draw to get dangerous Spanish opponents. Incidentally, that Villareal team got to the semis of the CL that year, and despite only ever playing in Europe for the last 20 years, they've now got far greater European pedigree, regularly making quarters and semis. Historically, Everton have reached the quarter finals of European competition twice in - a QF in 71 and obviously 85. It's almost unbelievable.
