One crazy myth this. He has zero acceleration. Like he's running in treacle.

All depends what you class as being quick I suppose. We have a number of players who aren’t slow, but I’d say only Godfrey and DCL are genuinely quick. The lack of pace in positions to carry the ball forward is a problem we need to address, but we’re finding ways around it which is great.

We spent £30m on him and he’s comfortably on over £100k pw now.

Because of this there’s two reasons we aren’t selling him and replacing him with any real quality.

1. No one is paying £30m nor £100k pw for a player who gets so much bad press.

2. As no one is paying that money for him, we aren’t going to be spending £15/20/30m and substantial wages on someone to compete with him.

Our realistic best hope is coaching his mistakes out of him and getting him the right support for the mental side of his game.

This may all change if we pull off a string of results to get top 4, as in theory he would’ve played reasonably well and have a good Euros to bring his stock higher.

I really genuinely think people are missing the boat here on how much it might cost to improve on Pickford. I agree his wages and past fee make it a really annoying thing to have to make him backup but I find losing or drawing games because he isn't good to be more annoying myself.

They're also really bad at passing forward. I mean Doucoure is the highest energy player but if you can't get the ball, face upfield and accurately pass to someone a fair few times a game the team is still going to struggle in that area.

Allan and Doucoure have not helped us here. The times we've been better than last season are almost entirely down to James.

DCL is super fast. Richarlison can also move.

Depending on how you define "pacy", you could exclude Digne and Holgate if you meant "well above league average". They're above average and miles away from "slow". "Slow" would encompass, say, Gomes and Siggy.

Language seems to be at the core of a lot of arguments around here today. I'm guessing people are edgy about tomorrow.
