Everton Summer transfers 2021

Pickford made two important saves in two games so the previous two years of being terrible aren't an issue anymore is some stunning logic. Which apparently is also a popular view around here now.

I still see 4-3-1-2 as the best option for us because it puts our best players (namely Richarlison, Digne and James) in positions to succeed. And if you take last night's team and swap James in for Gylfi I'd say the 3 positions most in need of an upgrade remain RB, GK and central midfield. If we aren't going to commit to that setup we need a RW too. But GK and RB are absolute must signs for this window.

Think Pickford is fine, they are obviously working on the mental side of his game with some success. The money it would cost for a serious upgrade is better spent elsewhere at the moment, especially if we qualify for Europe & play 2 games a week.

Pickford has always been an exceptional reactionary keeper. He's EXCELLENT at things that take no time to think about, just to react. His downfall has always been not these issues.
Idk. His reaction saves have been lacking this year as well. There were a few that pretty much went through or under his hands that he easily should’ve pushed around the post.

He is not fine and it would cost virtually no money to find an average goalkeeper which is a solid upgrade.

Guys the City game was only 13 days ago and he didn't save a shot from outside the box about a yard from the center of the goal. He's not fixed now.

Virtually no money! Where’s you list of candidate?

Just in the last window in the PL you had Fulham get Areola on loan and Leeds pay $7m for Meslier both of whom are better keepers. It really isn't that hard to find value at that position but you have to accept that Pickford is utterly terrible first.

Agreed I don’t think he is that bad so would prefer the money spent elsewhere, I think Carlo is sorting his head out & he’s getting back on track. He needs to maintain the improvement otherwise we should be looking to replace but you can spend a lot of money & get it wrong as Chelsea demonstrated.

Completely agree.

Let's hope that Pickers has a good Euro and as Zat would say we can sell him at optimum price.

Again it's been two games since his last mistake. If Carlo was sorting his head in don't know why he waited a year.

We've spent a lot of money and got it wrong have we not?

We can only agree on disagreeing.

Don’t think 25m is a lot on a goalkeeper these days. Theres reasons he cleared up all the awards in 2018, is England’s No.1 & is rated by Carlo.

I've been praising the change in mentality in Pickford in the last two games as it has been really noticeable but it's only two games, don't think for a second he's still not under scrutiny from a lot of Blues but nothing wrong giving credit where it's due and if he can keep this up who knows. He still and never will be able to deal with high balls comfortably though and that will always be an issue.

I just don't feel like mentality was why he pushed a Silva shot more less down the center into the bottom corner

I mean the guy will still make mistakes, they all do. I am only saying I think his demeanour has been a lot different and a lot calmer, it has made a difference but yeah he has flaws other than that. His long rang shot stopping isn't great and the high balls thing bothers me in this league. I like it when players work purposely on weaknesses though, good attitude.
