I think it has become very clear our two weaknesses, particularly when the onus is on us to break down the opposition.
We lack an attacking RB to match Digne on the left. We have no balance, as sides know that they can flood the left side of the pitch. Holgate is playing well in the role defensively and will be handy when we are trying to defend games.
And a clear second for me is the need for a ball playing deeper midfielder. Gomes is a good squad option but I don't think he is consistent enough to play that role. We need someone with confidence and vision to be able to play the ball into the likes of James and the strikers in good positions.
If we can add a RB, CM and another pacey options in and around the front 3, then I think we can really kick on.
Imagine if we had Carlo and Champions League to sell to players this off-season.

You actually can to a large extent, of course it would never be the same exactly, but a top team would have a system that would only need to be tweaked for the specific issues on the day.
