His price will still be high after the ban and doubt they'd sell cheap with it.

If it gets reduced he'll still be expensive and still, possibly, be unavailable for a time.
What ae Ajax doing without him at the moment
Did they just get a reserve to step up or did they buy in (or looking at ) a replacement
Just seen ban took effect from Feb 5th so doubt they got a replacement

The midfield is really interesting.

If Davies can continue his progress then for two of the positions we have Davies/Allan and Doucoure/Onyango. Ignoring James perhaps playing centrally, we would still need two more players there for when we play a 3.

Gomes isnt good enough and Delph is dreadful and shouldnt get in a matchday squad. Sigurdsson we need to make a decision on as he'll have a year left.

I can see us signing one player if we keep Sigurdsson and two if we move him on. I imagine Ancelotti will keep him another season and we'll bring in one midfielder.

For me, i see why youre saying a 'box to box' midfielder and others are calling for a 'ball carrier'. However, Id go for a player who can play both defensive and central midfield.

We would then have Allan/Doucoure/Onyango as 'box to box', Sigurdsson (and James) as attacking and Davies and a new player able to play defensive and centrally.

I take the view that we need to win the battle in the centre of the pitch and would go for an u23 player who would also fully replace Allan when he leaves while being good enough from day 1.

Not to mention we will probably get more for our money in that position. Id go for Camavinga, Guimaraes or Kamara.

I find it amazing that Brands hasnt signed any players from the Dutch league or even any youth prospects since joining.

I think we'll go for overseas players this summer...last summer we went with Allan and James who Ancelotti knows along with Godfrey and Doucoure who we must have been tracking.

There may be a few surprises.

If you look at depth, then theres not much quality depth or players with high potential to rotate in a few positions.

Thats where some of these relatively cheap punts come in which allows us to spend more on starters.
Not a mention of JPG in all that who will definitely be rated higher than Onyango

I'd rather get 1 top player that will walk into the first team than 3 bench warmers.
BTW I suspect that your valuations are way off.

What do you reckon Watford would sell for if they don't get promoted, and Southampton if Ings doesn't sign a deal mate (with only 1 year left).

They wanted 50m last year, I don't see them reducing that by 30m, personally.

And you ain't getting Ings for 10m, that's just not happening.

Fair enough, we will see come the summer.

I think you will see subtantial reduction in prices for both if Watford don't come up and Ings doesn't sign a new deal. Remember he's 29 and hasn't had a great season. THe figures I'm giving are certainly best case scenario, but hope the broader point, that there may be better options available than a Raphina who is at the top of his market value.

Doucoure is probably a good example of this. Had we whacked £50m on him, I would imagine people would view him very differently.

This is the creativity we need alongside Allan and Doucoure in centre mid. Wolves letting him go 2 years ago is a shocker.

Has been getting a fair bit of media attention as "Bruno Fernandes' replacement".

I actually mentioned fernandes a number of times in the years before he joined united and this boy, based only on highlights (ive not been looking at portuguese football for ages now) looks really good.

His assists are very low but watching a few clips, he could probably have 5 or 6 more assists but for forwards missing open goals.

Main problem i see is that Sporting dont sell cheaply and his buyout clause is £52mil.
