Everton Summer transfers 2021

Theres a number of posters claiming Michael Keane is irreplacable and shouldnt be sold under any circumstances...

...however, he's a limited footballer and if Ancelotti was able to, he'd upgrade him.

Mina also has only 2 years on his contract and we do have an issue with sitting deep every game and then the midfield dragged deep and forwards isolated.

Hence we could see changes at centre back as well as right back this summer.

This may be needed to evolve as a team.

I think @Lanolin that was the general point and @Stephenlloyd was somewhat "taken aback" by another poster comparing Mina/Keane to Ferdinand/Terry
Michael Kean has been really important to the team for his distribution. His stats this season show that he has made more passes than any player in the team. He’s also made more interceptions and clearances than anyone else. He has scored the same number of goals as Richarlison in the league and has scored the most from our defenders. He is our most effective defender at present.

Nobody is unsellable, but we have far bigger problems to solve than CB.

very true.. it’s about priorities. If we blow our budget or even a portion of it in a CB we will still be sitting with the same problems we have now. Less is more.. fewer players of higher quality required..

Mina and Keane are not even peak Jags and Lescott but they’ll do.. Personally I have no issue letting one go now if it means adding to the budget for a RB or RW.

A top notch right back would make quite a difference to this team.

I can't understand the chat about central defenders. That is one area where we excel both in terms
of current players as well as promising youngsters.

Right-back, a top number 10, a right -winger are urgently needed. Probably a goalie too.

We need a right-back, a right-winger, a striker, and pace. That'll do me for summer 2021. However, the quality needs to be high. So, no Sidibes and Walcotts, thanks. Let's face it, our summer 2020 signings haven't exactly set the place on fire. Allan has been a massive disappointment, simply because he's always unavailable. James is in and out, despite being sporadically glorious, and Doucoure is hardly anything special up to now. Godrey, who has been played all over the shop, has been impressive, at least in terms of this energy, commitment, and attitude. We need a better hit rate in terms of immediate impact next season.

Ok fair enough Allan has missed the last 12 games or something, but he’s been very good when’s he’s played. He’s not a massive disappointment, that’s just ridiculous

I think he's a fine player, but if you have missed the number of games he has missed, then it really doesn't matter how good your are. He has not been able to make an impact. Given his profile in the summer, he's been a massive disappointment so far - through little to no fault of his own. But in our position, we need a little luck with our signings. We've had a few too many Gbamin/Allan outcomes recently to make the headway we would have liked to make.

Carlo improving Godfrey so much already makes me wonder if a weaker defensive RB like Aarons might be a good option.

I'm not sure it's 100% comparable. What we need is someone with Godfrey's raw attributes - pace and desire - plus Digne's laser. Carlo can, I think, install positioning and defensive technique.

I think it's where we spend big, with the plan being to just hoof it over the midfield up to the boys up top from either flank and let them go to work while the wings crash forward. If we keep seeing this Pickford, that frees up a lot of transfer fee change.

That is not at all Carlo-ball, but he may be pragmatic enough to see it.

Well he's improved Godfrey, Keane and Mina defensively so I think I'm confident he could improve an attacking full-back too.

We need a whole new right hand side - have needed it for years now.

Iwobi & Coleman are squad players at best.

Yep, Coleman is absolutely fine as backup for the odd games next season similar to Baines a few years ago. However a proper young, quick, energetic, good quality RB needs to come in.

Iwobi is better from the left I feel but it hasnt helped his cause with an out of form Coleman, or 2 natural defensive CB's playing behind him. He's not the answer to the RW but may fare better with an attacking RB as it gives him more movement and options.
