Well done Sir, excellent post, I have been singing his praises on here for some time and have locked horns with one or two posters who I hope have now seen the light. I concur with each and every word on your post and could not have put it more eloquently.I think that some people, in their non-constructive criticism of him over the past few years simply did not see the bigger picture. Yes, he has been poor but I, personally always saw a good player and a passionate player who just wants to play football for Everton.
1: Bad managers: This cannot be doubted. He seemed to be shoe horned in and never really given a specific role during a game. These managers just didn't know how to develop him or where to play him.
2: He was 18/19 when he came in, as some have mentioned, there is no idea of how good or bad a player is going to be throughout his career, at that age (apart from the freaks of nature like Rooney). A lot of pressure to try to be the main man was given to him by fans and when it didn't look like he was going to be the player he seemed, after one wonder goal, then the boo boys turned on him, and turned quickly, and at times very harshly as well. As a young player this is going to affect your confidence.
3: The players he played with, along with point one, did not give him the best opportunity to show what he has to offer, too many times he has been let down by the system or the fact that other players were not letting him develop. I think this is being shown this season and is very obvious to see, a manager comes in and sees how exactly to develop him, where to play him and who to play him with (when available).
4: Too much exposure: Again with the bad managers note, he was simply played too much. He wasn't ready for that amount of games at this level, he should probably gone on loan to get games or continue to be rotated/come off the bench.
I am certainly not saying he is 'boss again', because he has never been 'boss' but he had something about him and for the last few years he has been poor to decent. This season he has been decent to good, the last couple of games he has been great against very good midfield opponents. There is an obvious upward curve on his progression this season, under Ancelotti I only expect that to keep on rising.
He has a good engine and he does see the pass but his execution has been inconsistent. Physically he is poor for the PL being slow and weak. If we are looking to compete with the Sky 6 I think we should be replacing players like this
The bottom line lads is that Carlo knows what he is doing, lads that aren't good enough will fall by the wayside, the rest will have a huge part to play. There was a wee cameo when he came on in the Leeds game which probably summed up Carlo’s use and trust in Tom. King was coming on too and Ancelotti Jnr was showing him a playbook of moves, spending minutes telling him what was needed of him, not unexpected for a newcomer . Meanwhile Carlo had his hand on Tom’s shoulder for about 10 seconds , it looked like the conversation went “ You know what I expect of you Tom” . “ Yes Boss”. He will have good games, bad games, some in between but the bottom line is it matters not what we think, Carlo trusts him .
So if a Doctor started spending more time studying ICT than medicine he would be fully upto date with knowledge on health/medicines?
Players get better through intensive hours in the gym and training ground - Davies was spending far more time dicking about playing dress up and attending cat walks with his mate Bellerin (who Arsenal fans largely can not stand) than actually learning the tactical side of the game and you could see it with his headless chicken routine out on the pitch.
No coincidence since he's buckled down that he's looking more tactically aware on the pitch and producing more in terms of his tackling/passing - all that is through hard work and extra hours of training.
If he never buckled down I think he would have been out the door this coming summer to a championship side as his career at the top flight was slowly slipping away from him.
Well, thanks for that, well worth watching.Brilliant, thanks for posting.
I think this is the big difference, imagine how good he feels when Carlo trusts him.He lost several years of development due to the string of poor managers. He is getting coached again and it shows.
then imagine again how much better he would feel when fat fathers of the goodison trust him.I think this is the big difference, imagine how good he feels when Carlo trusts him.
Honestly kept thinking Wednesday about what a 3 man midfield of Davies playing like that alongside Allan and Doucoure would look like. Would think that either one of Davies or Allan would venture forward while the other stays back. The amount of running would probably be difficult for the opposition to move the ball through, and transition to attack would probably be pretty quick. So will Allan slot back into the deepest position with Davies and Doucoure either side
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Like Sigurdsson Davies puts in the odd good performance here and there, both should be volleyed when we can replace them.
I’m not sure you could call him slow reallyHe has a good engine and he does see the pass but his execution has been inconsistent. Physically he is poor for the PL being slow and weak. If we are looking to compete with the Sky 6 I think we should be replacing players like this
Mo Besic though Lou. I expected better of you my frändel.
