Cos Carlo innit.

He wanted Allan and he wanted Hamez, he needed them ready to go and I know you "dislike" Allan a little, but they have both come in and made a difference.

Sadly the wastage we have within our current wage bill hampers us a little, but once we have shifted a few we should start seeing a proper plan.

While Carlo is here we will probably retain some short term thinking, I think that's sensible, I know you will disagree, but you don't give Carlo Ancelotti a squad that bears fruit in 3-4 years.
You aren't wrong about the last part but what gives me pause is where we do end up in 3-4 years when Carlo is gone. I mean if we still have Dom, Holgate, Davies and Godfrey plus a couple guys like Digne who are getting toward the end then maybe we're fine but you also could maybe not have that and who knows.

I'd just like a smidge more sustainability in what we're doing.

It all depends on what we achieved before he leaves.

And of course if Brands sticks around.

Yeah that's also true if we win something or make CL or both or more than that even who really cares but that's just very hard with how the league is set up right now. Our team is pretty good and still I think like maybe two or three of our players would start regularly for City. It's a tough battle.

lol But you know we can’t do that, we’re Everton, Leicester bought loads of good players to win the title with Walsh as DOF, we bought Walsh, and we’re still struggling to repair the damage he’s done. Everton that.

We bought Stones, Holgate, Calvert Lewin, Godfrey. Who says we can’t do it? City had to pay top dollar for Stones from us and god knows what the price tags would be on the other three now, probably so high that only United and City could even think of affording it. Who knows how Nkonkou and Branthwaite will turn out as well.

This league is just stupid, the cash that flows through it, you have clubs like Brighton who in normal covid free seasons will earn over 100m in "prize money" alone for finishing 16th or something.

Wish we played in DAS SPL and only had Bayern to worry about.

*waits

Bayern would be tapping up Calvert-Lewin right now so they can take him on a free the minute his contract expires lol. That's a whole different problem and I'm honestly not sure which is worse to try and overcome.

We signed Branthwaite and Nkounkou. We should be signing 1-2 of those lads a window, not one a year.

Been saying this for decades...

If we got just 1 player every window then after 3 seasons we'd have 6 players.

If theyre all the quality of branthwaite and Nkounkou then at minimum our backups are covered.

You'd end up paying £30 million for him. I bet there are 20 players similar to that in the Championship who you could get for much less.
Yes we can’t be wasting that type of money on players that bulk out the squad. Maybe only at CF as that’s a tricky one, we’ve tried buying a young back up in kean, which hasn’t worked. Will be interesting to see what we do about the striker position next season.

Back to Armstrong, for another 15mil you probably get Neto out of wolves

£15 million is the rumoured fee, as his contract has not long left.

Just think we payed £26 mill for Godfrey to be back up, and he has turned into a starter.
Bowen at west ham is excellent and cost around £18 million.

Some good players in that league, and if we are over paying on most players anyway, I would rather the money stay in england and flow down the leagues.
