Confirmed Signing Josh King

I'm not saying that's not true, but I find it hard to believe.

Josh King is 29, he could get badly injured at any time, just like that Mangala did when on loan from Manchester City did a few years ago. He only has a few months left from being a free agent. I don't see him being stupid enough to risk an injury just a few months ahead of his last major deal.

I think it's more likely that we have done a loan for FFP purposes, but I question just how 'optional' the proposed purchase at the end of it is? If it is truly as described, Mr King couldn't be taking more of a bigger gamble with his footballing career.
He had no choice but to gamble. His three choices were:

a. Fulham and a multi-year deal but with the caveat that Fulham are almost certainly going down so more than likely he'd have to exercise his option to leave when they did get relegated and look for a different top flight club or play in the championship.

b. Everton and a 6 month deal with the option to extend it if all goes well. We won't be going down but he also might hardly play here leaving him with nothing to go on should we decline the extension.

c. Stay at Bournemouth in the championship and not play as the team is better without you and never return to the top flight.

Obviously c was right out so it was down to risking it here or at Fulham. I'd say risking it with James Rodriguez on your side is the right call.

He's here until the end of the season calm down its not like we have given him a 5 year deal, He does well or he is punted, he will do much better than the 27m Tosun.

I think its a good signing, DCL is much improved but im still not convinced he will score with his feet. This lad can use his feet.
If you're going to sign a player of questionable ability who is way past the age where he's actually going to improve because you're desperate for nothing more than a live body for depth in the very short term it has to be said that the deal we've made here is exactly the correct way to do it. We'd be best served trying to avoid this situation but to get someone on a cheap deal with no risk of him being an albatross around our necks in the future if he isn't very good is genuinely a job well done by Brands.

Good on the lad for backing himself. Fulham are going down, and why go down when you can go up. Everton have cleared the decks of a lot of players, he’ll have an opportunity.

Now that said, they must see it as a long term investment because you don’t pay 5m for 6 months for a transfer fee for a player. That’s like 200k pounds a week on top of the lads wages.. So I think he’s definitely getting an extension and people are reporting 6 months so that fans aren’t concerned about long term deals.

Is it a galvanizing and electrifying signing in the mold of a Cuco Martina signing? No, but it's a pragmatic choice that provides an upgrade over that hair spray in a can using and possible crypto fascist lump Tosun.

You'd imagine Richarlison would move to the middle if DCL gets injured with Bernard replacing him on the flank, so King is going to be down the pecking order or supporting from the bench. Just hope we don't get too many injuries in the attacking areas as we're already resorting to grinding out wins as it is. The attacking sexiness of the first few games has kinda gone.
