Steve Bruce provides an injury update
Federico Fernandez will miss nufc's trip to Everton tomorrow. Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett returned to full training yesterday but it may be a bit too early for them. They will be assessed today. DeAndre Yedlin looks set to be available after work permit issue was resolved.
Steve Bruce on transfers
Steve Bruce 'still hopeful nufc can get 'one or two' loan deals over the line before Monday's deadline.
I've got one or two calls to make to certain managers in the next 24 hours but, as I predicted, I knew it was going to be a difficult window," he said.
Steve Bruce on Hamza Choudhury
He’s somebody we’ve liked, and it’s [the interest] been reported. I’m never going to speak about anybody else’s players, I think that would be wrong.
But he’s somebody that we do like, yes.
We’ve had to be patient, but we’re still hopeful things will happen. I’ve got one or two calls to make to certain managers in the next 24 hours, but I always knew it was going to be a difficult window, certainly when you’re in the loan market.
We’re not alone. A lot of teams are financially struggling, especially in the Championship, for example.
It’s been very difficult in that respect, but we’re still hopeful we can get one or two over the line. We’ll see what the next couple of days brings.
Steve Bruce on Graeme Jones
It's something we looked at the best part of two months ago. We wanted to get somebody with different ideas who could give us a freshness and work alongside Stephen Clemence and Steve Agnew. We made a few calls but Graeme was always our number one choice.
Steve Bruce on Everton
We played very, very well [in the home fixture]. We know we're capable and to be capable we need everybody fit and healthy and we're edging towards that. I was pleased with the second half against Leeds so let's hope we can build on that.
Steve Bruce on Matt Ritchie
Ritchie 'frustrated' at not playing every week. "If the right offer comes along for anyone in the squad..we have to make way to bring someone in," Bruce said. "So you can never say never but, certainly, with Matty, he's been here a long time so it will take a hell of an offer
Jetro Willems latest
It's a no go according to Steve Bruce.
I think Jetro hasn't played enough, unfortunately, and the problem we have in the loan market in particular is, is there someone who has played enough we can get? We're trying desperately to bring a couple through the door if we can.
Steve Bruce on assurances of surviving the sack
I wouldn't expect to be bulletproof, no.
I haven't (had any assurances).
We're in the Premier League, and we're judged on results - they haven't been good enough at the moment."
Steve Bruce and the letters....
Steve Bruce reveals fans have sent him letters: “I can bring you in a pile of letters I signed only yesterday. People wishing me good luck, telling me to keep bashing away. Not all doom and gloom but I understand their frustration totally.
Steve Bruce on teams below NUFC picking up points
They had bad runs at the start, which is why they're there.
We're having ours now.
You don't want a difficult period to last too long and ours has lasted too long but let's hope we can get a result & build some confidence
