ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

10 years ago, they were in relegation zone with

Jokanovic, Joe Cole, Paul Koncheskey and Christian Poulsen....

What god given right do they have to be so arrogant?
Additionally, I suspect the fans of pretty much any and every team would like their club to invest money to push on and fill the gaps - Spurs are a great example.

There's every right to discuss, question and even grumble, but they take it above and beyond that with their sense of entitlement.

FSG, like all business owners, will want to protect their public image. Seeing ‘borderline negligent’ being attributed to them a few months after they delivered the first title in 30 years will probably not sit well. It’s a huge overreaction from what has become a mouthpiece for the cult. If FSG move to a sell to buy model the fan base is really really not going to take it well.

To a point yes. And that is the significance of it. It could be that they are trying to bounce them into signing a CB. Whats interesting is the media are really siding with Klopp and doing his bidding and throwing FSG under the bus. Thats a really risk calculation to make, given it's ultimately the owners who grant access and privileges etc.

It's a really bold play just to get Klopp a CB. I mean if they sign a CB then to a degree mission accomplished, but if they don't the pressure gap will intensify and FSG will hold them partially responsible.

I do wonder if the media have some idea of whats to come, and that this is the future, and they uiltimately want to get ahead of the fanbase on it. Being seen as puppets of FSG may be very unpopular come the summer. Thats how it looks more to me. Conversations with Klopp at editorial level, and collective decision to turn on FSG.

People forget similar happened with Benitez. When the previous owners were backing him to the hilt they were amazing. The moment they said "no" no more money a campaign was started, from the manager, fans and crucially media to taint them.

As for the sell to buy model, pretty much every report on it has said they are already operating a sell to buy model. That has now been accepted. That was in the good times too, never mind now during a pandemic and not getting to European finals etc.

It looks very circumspect to me.

Had FSG not come in, or had H & G not been stiupid enough not to sow up the board (a mistake not repeated by FSG) they'd have gone down that season, and quite possibly gone bust as well.

Seriously never understood this way of thinking who as a fan doesn’t want to go to Wembley for the fa cup final there the days With your mates and kids that make it all worth while and you and they remember it forever .
Exactly this:
As a City fan there was a time pre takeover that I genuinely thought I would die without seeing us ever win another trophy. After the takeover I vowed that if we ever got to Wembley in any final (not semi-final) I would be there and fortunately I have. There is just no better sight and feeling as watching your team run around Wembley stadium holding a trophy aloft and that includes the Carabao cup also. In fact when we beat Liverpool on penalties in the Carabao cup that was actually one of the best!
Being there when your team wins a trophy makes all of the previous years heartache and suffering worthwhile.
In a final, any final the nerves, anticipation, fear and elation are just magnified x 100. So when you win the feeling is also x100. I'd take the FA Cup over a top 4 finish any day of the week.

Absolutely spot on for the first bit mate and that exact game too. It's funny the phsycology of football, that once the mistake goes, it gets lost very quickly. Teams suddenly switched with City very quickly, and the same is true for this team. You compare it to even last year, when Lallana got that late equaliser and the panic for United who were clinging. There was no panic yesterday when Liverpool equalised, they just went forwsrd and got another goal.

I didn't think they played that well yesterday to be honest. United left Fernandes out for most of the game and went for goals. They would have got more had he played for that Beek fella. Also the 2 goals they concede are very saveable. De Gea saves both. At the other end Cavani should make it 4-2, which is a fairer reflection of the play. Had it been a league game, they tighten up, but still probably exploit the centre backs and win 2-0.

As for that WIlliams, while he is horrendous, he's not their only problem by any stretch. It's laughable they were making him out to be a VVD clone 3 months ago. He's horrendous. He's slow, makes bad decisions and is not even that tall. He will do wellto make a serious career out of the game. However problems go deeper. The goalkeeper is starting to become more error prone. Fabinho was also really poor last night and should have been sent off for going through the bac of a man. Matip when he plays is slower than Williams and would have been exposed by Rashford's pce and movement.

In front of them, that midfield just doesn't press enough. Henderson is obviously injured but they miss him. Each game that goes by with that Thiago playing you see he's a liability for them in the role he plays. Just as he bottled the 50/50 header last game, he somehow manages to duck under a free kick that ends up in the bottom corner and was hit flat. Players just go past him with ease. I saw Mctominay do it 5 or 6 times, at one point he went past him like 3 times in a single motion. He's just not offering the protection that is required for that back 4.

I'm not even going to get into Arnold as that has been done before. They've lost their balance though, too many attacking players and not enough solidity. If they go to play more offensively they will just be picked off at ease.
very good

It's one of them games, that a draw really doens't work for Liverpool. I suspect Mourinho knows that. That if he can stay in the game for 60, Liverpool will run out of ideas. He will be well aware a draw damages a rival more than it probably damages Spurs at this point.

Spurs are a bunch of bottlers, but Mourinho is the x factor there. He won't be making it an open game like OGS did

I think its pretty obvious that Mourinho will be targeting Liverpools CB who played last night next to Firminho.

Can see Kane and Son having a field day on the counter against them.

Hoping for a draw :)
