Hmm, I think Rotherham and West Ham we were poor. West Ham showed the flaws in the way we've been playing if a team comes and just does that to you, we need to amend that - hopefully with the players back from injury we will do.

I can't say we've been 'poor' in any other league game recently though. We've been the better side in each of them and deservedly won, which is what matters, especially at this time of year - I don't think the dead of winter in the midst of a pandemic with 3-4 of your best players out or just getting back from injury is the time you really play with 'zip'.

Again, I don't agree that the squad themselves will be in need of a lift. Carlo does that for them, and he's so calm and calculated, he probably won't care if we get additions or not.

But that new player or two would definitely give us a lift that, while the squad may not desperately need, would be welcome nevertheless.

My annoyance comes from the fact that we knew we needed to shift players. Well those wheels should have been set in motion months ago. It feels like we just wait.
Personally I don't think you can say the West Ham game was poor and the Sheffield United game we deserved to win. Very similar performances just different results. Honestly probably Wolves too. Not that it matters when we're winning but West Ham does show how fine we've made our margins for error each week.

Probably one more for summer but clips of that lad from Reading, Michael Olise have been floating around the tinterweb recently and he looks electric. £8 mil release clause. The championship has been rich with talent in recent years and they look more and more capable of stepping up immediately. Maddison, Eze, Justin etc.
Living in the area I always keep an eye on Reading and they've looked a totally different team this season which is why Gibson probably isn't getting game time there. Last season Reading were awful, they'd flirted with relegation for a few seasons but they brought in this new manager in the summer and backed him and he's now got a squad of quick, technically good players and Olise looks a level above them all. No idea if he's good enough for a team with champions league aspirations but he's most certainly better than championship standard.

Just looks like he’s got so much swagger to his game, he’s going to have suitors in summer that’s for certain

I can’t see any team outside the PL signing a PL player this window as they’re all skint, so any outs may have to be within the PL or going abroad.

I don't know how far back Olise's career goes (in terms of where he started) i know he is French, but with the likes of Eze he actually started out with Arsenal (good sign that something was there) then was let go and picked up by QPR. Olise does look a decent prospect though, will defo get a PL move if Reading don't go up.

Not seen him play (just youtube) wiki has him as starting at Chelsea, moving to City and then joining Readings academy in 2018 before signing a 3 year deal.

Possible shades of Lamptey going to Brighton from Chelsea for peanuts here.

Worth keeping an eye on other teams academy players though we just had a 2 year ban of course...

Hmm, I think we created 2-3 good chances v Sheff, and as we were away from home played in a very controlled manner for what was needed. Never felt at threat.

Admittedly, the performance v West Ham was similar, but the onus was definitely on us in that respect. It's a case by case basis.

Away from home against a struggling side, in horrid conditions, we did enough. The performance suited what was required from us.

At home, against a team that parked the bus, we didn't do enough - indeed, we played like we had in the Sheff Utd game, but different games call for different types of performances.

I agree on the margins for error. Even a point would have been valuable.

Just like his career.
happy sit back and take the money for a few more months. He's everything that was wrong with the Walsh/Koeman era and whilst I get his defenders who say well we gave him that contract and he seems like a decent enough guy, its been made painfully obvious for a few seasons now he has no future here and had first team football been his priority like he keeps saying he'd have found it somewhere else by now. Going on social media and doing interviews on ToffeeTV making out like he's a victim or something and just wants a chance? Nah mate. Dude's earning thousands of pounds each week to use the FF gym during a pandemic where parents are struggling to feed their kids. poor Yannick.

I think that's a very rosy outlook on playing what could end up as the worst side in this league in a long while. And the problem is it is colored by us winning on a goal that was half chance at best and finished very well. You say 2 to 3 chances but I put us down for 1 and that's the volley Dom put a bit wide.

Not that transfers are the solution to any of this but I just think we've got to be able to say we're playing good or bad based on more than whether we squeeze a goal or the opponents do.

He is what he is, i remember a few years back when he was making it plainly obvious that he was trying to find his way into the music industry, he was also the original social media footballer tbf.

But surely we need to maximize that chance though?! Having Carlo and the weird way the league is playing gout this year, we would be mad not to at least chuck money at one quality player. We are a couple of injuries away from having to shoe-horn players into odd positions again and, while it has done OK so far, may not be so successful next time.

I cannot help that feel this one season it is up for grabs, not the title but the top 4 and the covered CL positions.

Just imagine finishing 5th or 6th by a point or two cos we did not have suitable back up or were forced to play Tom/Gylf/Gomes for the next 18 games.
Carlo gets what Carlo wants.

If he wants players, we will get players.

People think its Brands or Moshiri, but I know for a fact that if Carlo asked for players, they would find a way.

Outgoings are very important tho, without a few I doubt we have the required wiggle room.
