ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Over 3 and a half game since they last scored.

The best front 3 in the world and the best creative midfielder of all time though.

Thiago has only been on the pitch for one win. Every other game he’s played they’ve drawn. Amazing that the best midfielder in the history of football can’t create a few more opportunities for their forwards.

Salah seems the real problem.
Looks not arsed to be honest, thought Thiago, mane and Trent AA looked very sharp.
They are in desperate need of being able to mix it up

I said (I think to you) a few weeks ago, that something wasn't right with Salah. Wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to sell him come the summer.

Looks like Firmino has gone over the hill today and while Mane has been doing ok for them, he's a long way off where he was last season. 22 & 18 last 2 season, half way through he has 6. So it's a dip.

I thought Arnold still looked a bit off really mate. Fabinho and Henderson did ok defensively, and Alisson was brilliant- but United were sloppy.

Thiago is a strange one. Probably MOTM today, but without doing anything that really changed the game, and at times being a bit of a liability. Gave it away 2 or 3 times in dangerous areas, and sides play through him easily. I maintain, he has to play further forward.

They look way off to me though, and in need of far more than just VVD/Gomes and or Jota to come back.

Thats it. I can't say he didn't play well to me, but it's mainly just side ways and backwards, with the odd forward pass that doesn't harm opponents. I might be wrong, but hard to think of a single penetrative pass he made today that led to a scoring opportunity (contrast that with James at Wolveswho made 3 such passes to Iwobi to give him good scoring opportunities).

I don't think United were at all worried about him. If they were, they would just stick Fernandes or Pogba on him and mark him out of the game. He has the front 3 they have in front of him, and yet very little creatively. It looks very pretty, but there's not a lot of end product for me.

Thiago reminds me a little of J Rod. Some delicious touches of class but the physical side is a bit of a struggle. Injury prone too. I think a good signing though as gives them something different

He’s not even comparable to James. James nearly won the derby himself even at half fitness. The assist to Keane, the through ball from right back to DCL which led to the Keane corner, the floated cross to Richarlison which hit the post, the perfect delayed ball to Digne for DCL’s goal. Thiago did nothing apart from a blind pass against ten men to an offside player.

James is in the top bracket of world class players (despite the media attempts to chip away at this since he joined us). Thiago has never been at that level for any point of his career apart from a few decent games the back end of last season. Where was he for all the years at Bayern when they were rubbish? Probably on the bench whilst James was playing.

Just listened to one of them on talksport on the way home. They sound a bit suicidal to me. I'm surprised, I thought only a defeat could cause such a response. I didn't think they had that level of understanding in them, but clearly some of them have seen Fernandes, Rashford, Martial, Pogba etm al have probably had their poorest game of the season along with United, and yet they still created the 3 or 4 best scoring opportunities.

I think for some, today was the day it's sunk in they are not romping the title home. There's no excuses really. 10 day break, versus United having played a game a days earlier. When you factor in the cup game, which was a knockabout against a bunch of children they've had the best part of 2 weeks to prepare. And it was limp. The only chances that came were in the opening 20 when United made mistakes.

For some smarter ones, they can see the writings on the wall and the cool aid is not going to be drunk.

He's similar as both are a bit of a liability off the ball. Thats where it end though. James influence games in the final third. Thiago doesn't for me. He ticks it over, but there's not really much end product.

On the 2nd part, he was carrying the water for James to do his magic.
