The DCL thing is rubbish aswell. He was never really a favourite on here but he was given full support at games. People always appreciated his effort etc, they just wanted him to score more goals.

People's expectations of Kean were too high. The club didn't help themselves - or him - there because they made a massive deal of the signing and it being a coup. I think both the club and the fans expected him to be a hugely exciting talent, who even if he wasn't scoring many and had a few foibles, would leave us in no doubt that he was a future star. That's really not how it worked out though, some of his performances were absolutely appalling, both before and after that double sub.

If Zirkzee comes in then I think expectations will be a lot lower, and as long as he puts a shift in and looks like he wants to be here people will support him. Of course a couple of people will get on his back on here if he doesn't do much, and then others will make out like the entire fanbase boos his every touch and sends him bullets in the post, but that's par for the course.

Ppl where slaging DCL before the start of the season saying he wasn’t good enough, give it 2-3 more games without a goal and it will start again.

Ppl where slacking Rich off the other day, despite the fact he gets no support of the refs, gets slagged off in the media but gives 100% every game both in att and defence

Yeah, people slag players off all the time, it comes with the territory unfortunately. People slag Coleman off loads and he's been one of our best players of the last 30 years, it's what football fans do, it's not a trait specific to Evertonians.

Maybe he's not trying to get everyone excited by saying we might sign someone. Imagine the fume on here if he said that then doesn't?

Which yeah I agree, but so soon, literally 12 hours ago! I'd understand if its a case of expectation management and we maybe bring in someone later in the window.

The timing just seems odd.

Well we had rumours prior to the AGM, we'll have rumours after the AGM. We don't even know how concrete this one is.
