Confirmed Signing Josh King

If he was good enough, he wouldn't have gone down with them to the championship. Someone would have bought him.

If we wanted anyone from bournemouth, we should have spent the 20mill on wilson, instead of looking at a worse player, with a shorter contract but is still demanding 10m+ for him (if the figures are true). And definitely shouldn't be considering swapping branthwaite for him.

If no one else is available then King would be a good option. Not as a replacement for DCL or Richie but as a back up. He can score, he can hold up the ball, he can run at speed with the ball. We have no DCL as of now, Richarlison doesn't seem fit so for me it is a no brainer. Better King than what we have now. He would be just our forward utility player in the event of injuries/poor form. Haven't a clue if we are in for him but I would welcome him rather than go with what we have got

In King you get a player who can create an imbalance in the opponent's defense due to his speed and physique. He has always scored too few goals to be considered a top striker, and he has always been criticized for that. It's no secret.

But should we sign him, he will be a squad player who can play in the position of DCL, Richarlison and Iwobi. He will be an effective weapon in matches we need his qualities. If we do not sign him, then I do not cry, but I think some here greatly underestimate his qualities. These are qualities that Everton are screaming for.

We aren't considering swapping Branthwaite for him. Branthwaite has a big future here

He is a perfectly acceptable premier league player. I think I am in the same boat here, I don't want him but I don't not want him either.

If he signs he signs...

Manchester United tried to sign him, but he was overpriced. Then came Covid and the priority of many clubs changed.

I don't have to do that, I'm simply stating that he's not worth signing and there's no point in us signing someone substandard. I want someone of the required standard.
are you old enough to remember Paul Power, Wayne Clarke, Kevin Richarlison and Alan Harper. We are talking back ups to do a necessary job of standing in for the injured better players without a major disruption to the team. Someone able to cover several postions and not just one. We are in need of that type of player right now at minimal cost. It is possible to go out and do a major signing of a so called big player but we don't like to splash out big sums in January. Josh King at 10m or less would be OK IMO

Haha, OK. They literally have the same goal/appearance rate In the Premier league.

Tosun is 3.875
King is 3.864

Goals per min tosun is every 173.7
King is every 210.

Keep twisting your own statistics to fit. Neither player are good enough, but off statistics, tosun scores more.
How many games did King start as the central striker or on the wing? Tosun plays up front every match. King does not. The comparison doesn't work.

If all we are looking for is a fast, strong player than let's just sign whichever random 20 year old fits that description and move on.

Now you interpret what I write in the worst possible way.

You do not think he is good enough as a back-up, or worth the expense. That's perfectly fair. I disagree, and I think he can even compete with Iwobi and Richarlison for a place on the team.

If the club has identified a younger player who has many of the same skills as King, who is cheaper or the same price, and who can adapt to the PL level right away, then that's great.

My starting point is that we are vulnerable offensively, and the alternatives are not good. To finish in the top 6, which we now have the opportunity to do, we need offensive reinforcement. If there are better options than King, then great, but I think King is definitely an option.
