Players can sometimes take time to settle at a new club.
For example, Jagielka and Baines weren't exactly ripping the place up when they signed. Jagielka was being an unconvincing defensive midfielder and Baines was sat on the bench while a CB played at LB.
Both went on to do OK for Everton.

We spent £25m, when we had no money left to spend, on a 4th choice CH, whenever we have Branthwaite/Gibson filling that slot already, and didnt commit to a new RB (which we have only one of*, and even he is past his best), or a striker (which again we have only one of*)

Yeah, i get that. But he wasnt our 1st choice, and by the time we signed him it was clear he wasnt a priority to the squad. Its great signing players for the future as it should set us up for long term growth but not when we have gaping holes elsewhere. For example, an extra £10m (plus a player
) might have got us Sarr, could have got us close to Zaha if you rate him. Could have been used to offer Donnarumma the big salary Raiola will be wanting etc Instead we have spent it on a player frankly we may/may not use anytime soon.

Godfrey and Holgate will have longer at finch farm over the international period. Time to start working them as a pairing.

He looked completely lost playing out of position at RB. DM is a role he’s played before, but I’d sooner give him a bit of confidence by playing him in his strongest position than continually play him as a utility for injuries/underperformers.

25m i just the market rate for players now. At least we have a player on the bench we want to bring in.
Tbf he has showed strengths and weaknesses so far. He clearly has the attributes but has been a bit raw. Will be a regular by the end of the season.
