Let's have it right: Van Dijk is an above average PL CB. That's it. That's the player I and a few others on here commended to this forum a few years back when he was at Celtic. He's barely progressed since. He just so happens to play now for an organisation that can make the authorities turn a blind to his snide fouls and gets him out of jail with bad decision making at the back.

'World class'? If he is then this world of football must be at a low ebb for CB quality.

'Best of all time'? FFS, anyone putting that forward is eaither clinically insane or needs a good 'kin punch in the face.

I've seen him on numerous occasions go walk about and leave his defensive team mates all at sea.

His best qualities are attacking the opposition. He's a second rate defender and gets away with his (danger/goal saving) fouls by virtue of the fact that he plays for Liverpool and they'll get every decision.

If someone were to offer me a Tony Adams quality CB or a Van Dijk one I'd take the hand off them for Adams.
