I'm trying to figure out why the VVD incident remains so unceasingly amusing. I think it is the intense irony that someone so roundly disliked could carry out something so heroic, whilst in the very act perfectly exemplifying the root cause of most of the dislike directed towards him: his staggering ineptitude as a footballer. The multiple levels of irony built in to the incident make it unavoidably hilarious on a level I haven't experienced in recent memory. This is despite my genuine concern and sympathy for VVD.

I can’t believe people defend him because of a couple of saves. Those saves he should be making. Every keeper in the premier league and championship makes those saves. It’s like applauding a midfielder for a ten yard pass. All keepers make good saves. That’s what they are there to do. He got away with the Henderson goal due to a dodgy offside decision. I hope Carlo doesn’t see it like that and drops him next game. Absolute clown who exudes havoc. A word which should never be used when describing a goalkeeper.

Watching the match back again and it wasn't pretty but Jordan did get the ball before he clattered into the player, I guess thats why it was cleared on VAR.

He didn’t touch the ball .. looks like he did Deon the angle behind Pickford ( looking at pickfords back) But from the opposite angle the weird movement of the ball is because vvd tries to trap it. He tries and it gets away from him and he plants his foot and Pickford scissors his leg while it’s planted and that’s why his acl goes as it’s his standing leg

Neither of those ‘mistakes’ even counted.... it’s the ones which lose us points which are the ones we should discuss.

Mate that’s like if a cb gave the ball away 5 times in a match to salah that went one on one and missed all his chances . Then not talking about the cb mistakes ... he got very lucky , the only reason they didn’t count is because of VAR , not because of any decision or act he has made . If our defender was 30 Cm deeper we would have been 2-0 down and playing with ten men for 80 minutes

Apparently our players we're instructed to do theirs, but this conveniently skips over the fact that had Pickford tried to 'do' anyone he would have missed.

It's not like the Son tackle on Gomes, he didn't seek to damage the player, he's just so clumsy he managed to by accident. The Frank Spencer of goalkeepers.

It was an accident like. He's a big clumsy oaf, but there defo wasn't any intent.

Richarlison on the other hand lol lol lol

All those applauding him for injuring VVD need to wind their neck in. That was a seriously bad tackle and if that had happened to one of our players we would be wanting blood. Hiding behind an offside flag does not make it alright
