think it is better that they didnt play us right away, when you receive such a spanking you would like to get that out of your chest AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. they will be thinking about their 'reaction' for two full weeks. The more I think about deby the more I am being convinced we are winning it.

Yep - fair point, I think my key point is they will have significant bodies back (that said it's a lottery post international break) Henderson, matip, Mane & thiago are all experienced and I would imagine would have changed the handbreak turn nature (not the result) of the game.

Regarding your point on Thiago, I disagree, what they needed during the villa game was someone to manage it, Calm them down (their heads were completely gone) and manage the ball for a bit.

I agree for sure deeper than a "Freak" and there is no confidence there & when you mix that with high-line and a bad keeper we saw the car crash. I don't know enough about his time at Dortmund, but assuming when it went to pot, it was similar issues. Will be interesting to see if he can learn from the past, i have my doubts

Are all of the above back for the derby. Matip is very susceptible to pace, but is a much better defender than Gomes. Henderson was probably the biggest miss. Thiago and especially Mane would have made no difference. Liverpool dominated possession, but got cut to ribbons. Thiago in for Wijnaldum or Fabino would have made it worse.

I'm not sure if they are back. The issue in each case will be match fitness. Isolating for 2 weeks will have some effects, not with standing the potential there is a potential lingering effect. I'll be surprised, and quite pleased if this is the first start for Thiago.

For me I hope Henderson and Matip miss the game. Coleman has dominated Mane when theyve both played and I think Thiago is overrated and will underwhelm in the game. However if they can get Gomez out, and a midfield of Fabinho, Wijnaldum and Henderson they will have a strong base.

As for Klopp and Dortmund, yes it fell part. Bottom 3 half way through the league and clawed it back. They are potentially falling from a much higher spot. However to me this result is not really a freak result. They have started both conceding, and looking like conceding multiple goals for some time. It's been on the cards. I'm not sure Gomez and Arnold are sharp enough defensively, and the high line is a challenge.

You can actively see sides now wanting them to press. Have players who can switch play and you get at the back 4. It's a risk reward strategy, and some days it will go wrong, but theres a degree of volatility you would take when playing a top team.

The nerves will build. Our injured players should be back. We are looking ferocious. EVERYTHING is lining up.

Everton that in me is saying well they keep coming up with creative a new ways to beat us in the derby. Last minute goals, different highscore lines. Last minutes blunders. Gerrard hatricks ticks. If they win this one after all the circumstances leading up to it it could be up there. Just 2nd to getting walloped and nullified by the kids.

Every time the stars seem to be aligned something happens.

I feel god has to give us this after the league win and a decade of pain. He’s a prity messed up man if he get smashed here.

(edit) or girl

However the scoreline looks at the end, I'm really looking forward to seeing the derby debut of several new quality Everton players who have no particular reason to be overawed by the rs.

Yep. Richy has never been scared in the derby we have a new quality midfield Coleman will be itching to get a win as he is a fighter and he has been on the same boat as us over the last ten years. Digne is new enough. Hopefully we have enough to up the game of of the other cowards albiet most of them are on the bench.

See its being reported on a RS forum that they are seething because they say an Everton Fan/s have sprayed Carlo fantastico on the brick wall that surrounds Melwood and that it will cost money to remove the paint. Massive wall surrounding that site. And they moan about that. Made me laugh anyway

Strange isn’t it how Klopp’s teams go from nowhere to unbelievable form and then have a huge regression as seen at Dortmund. I’ve never seen a title winning team go from almost being invincible, barely conceding goals to getting hit for 7 by a team in a relegation battle last season. Very very odd.

It's an obvious and perhaps trite to say but of all our games I wish we had fans at this one.
Top of the league, playing great , one of the World's best players at the top of his game , Richarlison and DCL constant threats and the RS coming off an humiliating defeat.... Goodison would be rocking just like when we smashed Bayern Munich.
But sadly it's not to be.
However if we win it will send shockwaves through the league. We would be seen as serious challengers and massive question Mark's would be raised against them.
It is hard to overstate the importance of this game.

Nice thing is, after Villa their 'reaction' with be a comprehensive defeat from a very stylish performance from Everton. Press will see us as contenders and they will be devastated, crying for Shanks and the usual victim drivel.

They think it’s the perfect game to bounce back from. There’s no other game they want to put the villa game behind them. A win would be suuuich a statement. Absolutely rattle them maybe beyond recovery. And will send us flying.
