25m would be too much. But I think he is really talented so I don't see him as just a squad player necessarily especially if we are playing in Europe and need actual talent to come into the team.

I also don't think 25m is the price at the minute so that's why I'm not really concerned about the money.

Also clubs get things wrong. All the "bigger" clubs thought James Rodriguez was no good anymore for example.
You rate him, I don’t let’s leave it at that.
And so far 20 prem teams think the same as me.

How do you know what big clubs didn’t want James. It was the media telling everyone he’d done nothing since 2014. No other team bar spurs went in for bale.

Im sure had you offered James to all 20 prem teams. At least 15 would have snapped your. Hands off

And which are the 5 that wouldn't? That's sort of my point.

I just don't like the argument of "well look at all these clubs that don't like him" when some of those clubs are doing things like willingly having Scott Parker manage their team in the PL or committing to a decade of Sean Dyche anti-football or recycling Slaven Bilic. Clubs can be dumb. The fun in the forum is about discussing it outside of them.

He can.

If it was up to me and its not, but if it was up to me I would probably do nothing and pray.

If DCL, Hamez or Rico are injured, we are goosed and nobody, for me, can replace any of them effectively.

But some people seem to think we are light in the positions they play and we are to a degree, whoever we replace them with is a vastly lesser quality.

I think I really cba with cry arses moaning when we have to play a lesser player due to injury, they wont realise that none of those players are replaceable, they will just bump the Brands thread and call him a clown.

No team in world football can cope with losing their 3 best players.

In truth, losing DCL would also not be the end of the world for a lot of games, which sounds bizarre as someone who is a massive fan of him. Losing him when he's on this scoring glut would be awful, but I'm sure he will "regress to mean" at some point and be on course for 25 goals this season (which is world class in domestic comps).

However Richarlinson can fill it at 9 and is probably more rounded than DCL and may even go up another notch. Iwobi/Gordon can come in on the left, and provide a different threat, while lesser than Richarlinson not so much lesser. I think Richarlinson would be dynamite on the counter as well, even more so than DCL. I suspect it's why Carlo has played him in there in the last 20 of games, where we need to counter. DCL is learnign this, and improving, but Richarlinson is very good.

You are right though, we have to gamble a bit. There will be games where 1 of them isn't playing, and at times maybe 2 are not playing. The argument is, and I've put the shout for Buendia, but is he better than say Gordon or Iwobi? Thats going to be the question.

The only lose game we've really had was Palace away, and the rest you sense if 1 of the above 3 was missing we'd have had enough, though it may have been close. We need Pickford to stop throwing it in the net, so on days where they are not at their best, or a couple are missing we can win ugly.

These are very much the discussions and levels you have when you compete for the league though. If we fall short of getting there this season, it's by no means a failure. If we can finish in the top 4, with everything else thats happening here, we will be attracting a whole ne calibre of player as we begin to add.

We also have to bear in mind, January is not a long way away. It's 2.5 months. If something horrendous happens, we can put it right quite quickly.

The other 2

I saw some link to Turkey, which I can imagine would have just been a loan. I have no idea if we are linked whatsoever, but if he wants away, and we can pay a decent loan fee, and potentially grease their palms with say Brainthwaite then you never know. He's been left out of squads.

Webber will not want to lose him, but a loan to Everton under Ancelotti will be a lot better than a loan to Turkey.

Athletic lads have been told no more incomings/club happy with forward situation until Jan.

That may change like and think it's a bit risky myself, especially with the extra risk of COVID quarantine

Might be a big call next summer if we have to balance the books, I can't help thinking if that amazing deal with Real Madrid for Rodríguez gave them first option on Richy.

I imagine the club will be happy with 7th this season and anything higher would be considered a welcome bonus.

As fans we hope for top 4 but ultimately the club dont look at it from a fans perspective rather than an accounting one so they'll likely persist with Tosun as back up who they were happy to try offload to Palace only a few months ago!

4 games in...let's see where we are after 10+ games before shouting about top 4. Don't disagree that it's a good idealistic proposition, but I think Carlo knows a damn sight more than you or me.

By the sounds of what Paddy B was saying, then yes it's going to be Tosun as the back up.

He mentioned opportunities just not presenting themselves as the club hoped in the final days of the window, and maybe those chances might be there come Jan.

the consistency is much applauded.

If Tosun is the designated backup striker he will score atleast 10. Hamez will just pinpoint hit that beautiful spray on tuft of his

Cant see us signing anyone until next summer unless we have an injury crisis up top coming into January.

Sadly I think the big galoot will be our back up to DCL.

That Behrama looks tasty on either wide position though.
I'm sure I read somewhere that Benrahma is available at around £20m (seems a fair price)
If he lives up to his potential he would be an astute signing.
And, if (and I hope it doesn't happen) Richarlison does decide to move on next summer we would have a replacement already in place.
