I may be in the minority but I would prioritize this game over the Brighton game on Saturday.

The club is on an upward trajectory and getting some silverware would be an important step. Of course we've never won this one so although it's the silliest and least consequential of the trophies it's not nothing. As has been pointed out elsewhere this trophy was the first that Pep won in City's ascendancy so no reason it couldn't be a stepping stone. Plus we qualify for the Azerbaijani/Uzbeki U18 tournament or whatever the hell that new third rate European competition thing is.

Although you never want to drop league points, we've stashed plenty in the bank so far, so have if we have to conserve resources, we can afford to play some of the second string against Brighton and have a decent shot at 1 point if not 3 and even if we lose we're top five in the table after 4/38.

Players are coming off a short summer break, some were not match fit, COVID has messed everything up, the fixtures have been crowded, some have had international duty on top of that, etc. We're fortunate that Holgate has been the only major injury. DCL icing his hamstring caused minor panic. Someone is going to get a muscle pull from overuse. In particular James should be treated like a fragile little bird. He's proving wrong the doubters who say that he can't play in the PL but game after game of being battered by the likes of Dunk* 2x/week are going to tell eventually. I'd favor using him as little as possible over the next couple of games to get him to the international break, he looked spent against Palace.

We were able to play the backups against lower-league opposition in the cup. I don't think West Ham are as good as their scoreline against Wolves, I think they just had their day and caught Wolves on their bad day, but they're still a PL side and have good players. I'd rather bank the cup win by playing our best against WH and take our chances that we can get points against Brighton with some of the bench players, which is still a good bet even though Brighton are improved.

Come @ me.

*Not throwing shade at Dunk per se, he'd be doing his job to bang James around for 90 minutes. I'd grab him in a second.

I think Carlo will put out a really strong team.

Too many people are worrying about possible injuries to players. We've put out weakened teams for years in cups and it invariably ends up in us getting knocked out.

Resting players doesn't necessarily help form either. How many years with no Europe and yet our form has still gone out the window.

Let's go for the win.

Considering we have a two week break after Brighton and then no midweek game until December, I really don't see the need to "rest" players.

Interesting to see which team he puts out .. can’t have delph , davies , iwobi , siggy starting or else we are really running the risk of messing this up

Decided to bite the bullet and give the Carabao Cup streaming site a go for this one

£10 seems overly pricey to watch a stream, but a match ticket would probably cost more I guess

If it's crap then I won't use it again, but I feel better about doing this than streaming illegally I guess

I'm attaching the laptop to the TV, so can least watch it on a widescreen.

because it's the quarter finals waiting for us you mad man and West Ham are crap, Why would we waste such a golden chance.
no doubt there will be man united or city in the higher rounds and it will be harder to proceed. golden chance? this is like golden mistake our squad is not big enough to play 50-60 games a season just focus on league week in week out try to get top4 or top 6. the focus should solely be on the league
