2020/21 Moise Kean

Kean thinking to himself before that pen: "I'll take this pen and strengthen my weakened position here by getting a goal and underlining my credibility to the doubters".

Then....

@davek ladies and gentlemen... would rather we took a ‘proper’ penalty and missed, apparently.

I do too, which is going to lead to Kean not playing much and therefore not scoring much and being unhappy. Which will lead to us selling him to Italy without really developing him and that'll stink, but if we're competitive again it's whatever.

I think there has to be an honest conversation with Ancelotti. Is he going to use him in cup games, and use him off the bench a fair bit? Likewise if we get a really good offer from Italy in, even a loan, that has to be considered.

start kean after that tonight? Did you even watch the game? 3 in goals in 3 starts against the 3 of the worst defences Everton have played in that time. And his all round game is way off Premiership standard. Its not a given that all players improve with age. it takes a lot of hard work and so far he is showing no improvement whatsoever.
It's also hard to show improvement when you aren't playing.

If Dom stinks for 3 or 4 games, yes Kean should start. Even after tonight in which he scored for his third straight start.

He doesn’t even look close to being the player we all hoped he would be. I’d ditch him and bring in Josh King.

He's 20.

Josh King - and I like Josh King - is 28.

The lad could have had a hat-trick tonight. He worked hard and yes, missed a golden chance. But stepped up to take the pen and got his goal, then was very unlucky not to have a second.

He needs time and to play in a functioning team - hopefully that's the start of it now. If the club sell they're stupid.

I wouldn't sell him unless we profit.

I also don't think Dom should be so locked in at the striker position that Kean starting double digit league games should be viewed as far fetched. I like Dom a lot but he has been an up and down player to this point.

The lad's a laughing stock.

Look, he came over here, got a few quid, bought some expensive watches and broke a few covid19 restrictions.

Let's just call it a day shall we?

As much as I'd love him to turn the corner, I have to agree with this appraisal! He's still young, but at the same age even Barkley was cutting the mustard.

i am pretty sure you’ve argued Kean was better than DCL on multiple occasions and not just with me. DCL always showed promise as he had the basics and understanding with an eager willingness to learn. His development was apparent quickly. Kean is nowhere near, he’s got too much to do.

Difference between Dom and Kean right there. Kean gets it 1v1 wide on a CB and he is getting a shot off 100% of the time. Dom kind of miscontrols and settles for a corner.

I recall this being posted after the Preston pre-season game.
"Kean gets it 1v1 wide on a CB and he is losing the ball 90% of the time" would be more accurate.

if only they had some sort of practice in front of the manager where they could show their talent in the week before he picks the team.

He’s a strange one like. Can see why he gets stick on here, as at times was horribly clumsy and very headless-chicken. But he always seems to get into positions and get chances as he’s unpredictable. I’d like us to stick with him this season, see if he improves, with a better team behind him this year.

Im not a million miles away from that.
Firstly i dont and never have got the fuss about him. He's a bang average all round player.
The one thing i can see in him is possibly a goal grabber. Glad he was given the pen for him to just hit the net.
Thats me grasping at the last few straws. I wouldnt trust him to start a big league game. Im not convinced he wants to be here.
But i can see a goal grabber.
