Hello,

Brand new Colombian fan here. Just wanted to say that I am glad James came to such a positive team and such a positive fanbase (at least when it comes to him and the new signings). Just wanted to share a few observations

James will do great here. James does extremely well when he has the support of the coach and he pretty much will leave everything on the field for that coach. Even though his class is never questioned, he has lost a little of his scoring form over the years from shifting different positions and adjusting to what was asked from him. Also from not playing as much as he should have. I believe that he can rediscover his 2014 WC and 2014/15 season scoring form here as his confidence grows.

I do hope that the team picks up a RB. No knock on Coleman but James needs a RB that will venture forward and that can link up. James is extremely one footed, lacks pace, and is a smart but not great dribbler. When playing teams that press well, he will be dispossessed. If he will continue playing in the right, a RB like Arias for him to play 1-2 would be wonderful. He has done great with Arias with Colombia for example. That way he doesn't have to switch it to Richarlison every time and has an option on his flank.

Hopefully he can stay healthy. If he does, I am sure your team will indeed compete for European spots. He is that good and Carletto seems to have built a good support system that will allow him to be at his best.
Stick around lad

Hi everyone. New to the board. I’m Colombian-American so I think I have a good perspective on James and the potential marketing opportunities.

Seen people mention merchandising and authentic kit vs knockoff is not really an issue in my opinion. People in Colombia and Colombians abroad were buying the James Real Madrid jersey and buy the ever changing Colombia Addidas jersey at full price without issues.

Colombian culture is very materialistic and show-offish, so people try to get authentic gear for bragging rights and status.

The problem is availability. Nike and Addidas stores in Colombia and the US carry all their club and national team merch. Until now, I had never heard of Hummel which is why I think its going to be difficult to get unless you go to very niche football stores here in the US which the Colombian tourist on vacation might not know how to find or the one store in Colombia which no doubt is getting a shipment of jerseys straight from the UK and selling it and above average prices. Hopefully I’m wrong and demand is met.

As a long time neutral fan of the EPL, I’m stoked to watch this season with an actual team to pull for with this new Everton-Colombian connection. No offense to Mina, but not necessarily the biggest draw to have to wake up early for.

Hope the win on Sunday is one of many.
I'll have a bash in the next week or so to put a load of pics and vids onto this song, but I'm off work getting bladdered andfor once in a long time actually enjoying everything blue...
Anyway I digress...

Yep. Looks like the media/PR team have put in some legwork; lets hope it continues. A club shop in Miami and Bogota aint the worst idea ever. Well, in these times, maybe it is, but you get the point.
Offer free postage for shirts to Colombian addresses. Still make a profit.

With my life being between Perú and the USA for the last 10 years, one pretty much constant is that the only reliable way to find an Everton shirt is to go online, and usually through the team store. One time when I was in the USA visiting, my family was all together, and my brother shockingly showed up with an Everton shirt on (he'd always been a United fan). I asked him where he got it, hoping that it was from some easy to access USA store, but it was the Everton store online, same as I'd gotten them from.
Within a few years, if the club keeps signing guys like James, Allan, and Doucouré, though, it won't really matter who the manufacturer is, because shops that sell shirts will be missing out on easy money if they don't carry those of the bramley-moore blue galácticos.

Anyone else seen this...

Thought it was interesting that Jermaine Jenas likened James signing for Everton to when Spurs got van der Vaart. It is quite similar - same kind of player and career trajectory. I wouldn't be surprised if we see quite a lot of Peter Crouch-style chest downs from DCL to James around the edge of the box as well.
Hope we get the chest downs and goals etc,but this boy is going to delight the premier league.VDV was good not in the same classroom.
