Did anybody listen to the All Together Now podcast on Thursday night and they had the German and Spanish football expert on and he basically said James is going to be a dud, will always be injured, is lazy and doesn’t like bad weather?

Kind of put a downer on it for me cause I know he could and probably will be right.

I've no doubts that he will be labelled lazy to be honest, particularly when results are going against us. The hope is that the running that Allan, Doucoure, Richarlison and DCL all put in will give him the freedom to play to his strengths

the delay may well be down to something like the club only has a limited number of people in certain areas, such as solicitors to go through/draw up the contracts, medical staff to conduct and review the medical test data, and only one pen to sign the contract. One arse, one horse. Theres no rush, the bed is already wet, get it done properly.

It would be surprising if JR didn't have some issues after a decade of playing football at a high level.

I would expect they would have been made known to Everton in advance.
The medical staff will have to decide if they are a problem.
It could be the club have gone back to Real to reconfigure the deal if the issues were serious.

I just think that deals are never announced when we want them to be and patience is called for.

Once he works his magic, he can be as lazy as he wants - and, actually, he's much harder working than his reputation gives him credit for. He suffers from being a beautiful player of vision and relatively slight physique, but he has great heart.

We haven't had a player of this technical ability play for us, I would say, since Alan Ball. After decades of cloggers and try-hards, it's time for some proper ability to come into this side. I watched him in Berlin in a cup match for Bayern in 2018 and everything went through him. He'll completely take over our build-up. Tracking back - which he does - is the last thing I will be judging him on.

From someone who purports to be ITK. I cannot vouch for them personally, but they have certainly been right about other things -

The hold-up with James is down to significant wear and tear in both his ankle and hip, discovered during his medical. The EFC medical team have said it is highly unlikely that the club could get more than 20 games a season out of him. The has led to renegotiations on the terms of his sale.

(Although I have to say this can't really have come as much of a surprise as looking at his career, he has rarely made more than low 20's in appearances whichever club he has played for).

From what I understand the transfer is still going ahead. Take it or leave it.

Do you really expect to come on here, for the first time since God knows when, basically tell us from a not so reliable source that possibly the best player the club as ever signed has effectively failed a medical, and be well received?

Allan got here first, had tests, signed, did all his vids etc yesterday.
James and Doucoure came later. They did their tests later. Including covid tests (Sandro is in the same hotel isn’t he?). We seem to be isolating people there until tests come through. Then they sign. Then they do the vids. Then they are announced. These things take much longer. The vids alone and the rules around distancing and disclosures are complicated.
there’s no ‘delay’. Just different timings.
