I agree mate. If we do bring someone in, it has to be someone capable of dislodging Pickford, admittedly thats a low bar, but its been a while since we had a competent back-up keeper.
I'd prefer to see Pickford out, or at least dropped in the short-term. His attitude is poison for a team that has any hopes of improving, and taking that task seriously.
Pickford has given us plenty of warnings about his form, and we can't ignore those any longer. I can't see Ancelotti being at all happy with him, and he certainly won't be fooled by his antics.
I too would like to see him dropped. The position I suppose is about protecting the asset, though the counter may be that the more you expose him in that mindset the lower he drops.
I think he we get a repeat of any of the antics at the back end of the season, and we have a back up in, he gets dropped. Thats how I would see it. Buit you hope he knuckes down,
You really get the sense of two things with Ancelotti. The first is he's quite a loyal and defensive manager and the 2nd that he has not extended any of this to Pickford. If you look at
Michael Keane, not everyones favourite player, but the manager likes him, was singled out and he has a long contract. Likewise, he is prepared to back Sigurdsson. Evem if you're quite a limited player, if your attitude is right and you try, he goes out on a limb for you.
I noticed with Pickford he was never really mentioned when he spoke positively of players. I don't think he will suffer fools. He seems in his own little world, immune to the wider criticisms.
