Spurs

Really disappointing compared to Sunderland and Leeds ones.

Clear that Spurs got a grip of it to ensure it was a glorified PR piece.

It needed some more external view - fans, fan media, journalists (and not just the one who is onside) etc

My guess is Mourinho (and his PR) got a lot of say in this as part of the agreement to join Spurs. It's the perfect vehicle to rebrand the sacked Jose, showing a younger lighter side to him & in fairness so far he has come across well.

I would imagine it was a huge pull for him in terms of taking the spurs job.

I think being old, on he's way down the managerial ladder and getting a big wage had most to do with it.

The Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Trevor Birch as Director of Football Operations. Trevor has extensive industry experience and has held several prominent roles within football, including having previously been Chairman of Swansea City FC and CEO of Chelsea, Sheffield United, Derby County, Everton and Leeds United. Trevor will focus on the development of the Club’s Football Operations.

As part of a wider external remit Rebecca Caplehorn will take on the role of Director of Football Administration and Governance. This newly created role will lead, drive and embed football governance processes, contractual matters and best practice across the Club. It will also allow time for Rebecca to extend her work with the European Club Association, the FA and various related footballing governing bodies and working groups where she represents the Club.

Steve Hitchen has been promoted to Technical Performance Director. This new role will focus on building capabilities to support a world class football infrastructure across senior and youth teams. As Technical Performance Director, Steve will have responsibility for scouting, performance and recruitment analysis and youth recruitment.

These management changes will lead to the creation of a Football Board consisting of Trevor Birch, Rebecca Caplehorn and Steve Hitchen, chaired by Daniel Levy.

Fella was at Everton 6 weeks!!!!

Yes it's fair enough. To some degree thats the compromise for teams allowing access isn't it? It's access for a favourable spin.

100% agree. I suppose you have to consider what you are trying to Spin. Spurs was probably to raise commercial revenue, great opportunity to show the new stadium & and stroke Levy's ego.

City on the other hand, is part of the sportswashing exercise. Painting these hideous individuals as "good people", creating and army of blinded twitter supporters and giving Abu Dhabi credibility on a global platform. Not for me

Yes maybe.

It's a hard line isn't it? I mean Spurs opted to do the furlough scheme, from a government that is allowing children to drown in the English channel. Or their city rivals United are owned by people who make their money in probably the most explotative and damaging country in the world in terms of foreign policy. I mean this sports washing thing I'm not sure sits is easily with me. It seems to be a lot of English people, wanting to point the finger of other governments/regimes while ignoring the crimes of our government and that of the American regime.

An underdog team with Mourinho is a dark horse, they needed a DM and got a guy with the most interceptions in he league, needed a RB and got the best Prem one available in his prime for a bargain

Both for combined less than Iwobi
Very fair comment.

I really want us to overtake Spurs this season. Not because I have anything against Spurs, but I think they are the best team to target as a benchmark if James, Allan et al. come in.

I think the first point you have to look at is Private ownership Vs State ownership. Ultimately all vehicles for something, whether that be Capital appreciation and value growth, profit extrusion or money laundering etc.

Where the line changes is what city group (no longer Man City IMHO) are doing, this is not about profit, its about giving a dictatorship credibility in the western world. A window to grease the palms of governments and while they continue a regime of murder & war crimes and what is the most sickening part, is they have managed via propaganda (including the Amazon doc) to create an army of Mancunian twitter supporters prepared to defend them & their crimes. If supporting Everton deteriorated into defending & justifying the actions of Venezuela or Uganda, im out.

Yeah I get you, I think we could overtake anyone of them, Spurs had an aweful season but finished strong on 6th, Arsenal finished 8th and an fa cup doesn't mean they will be consistent, City need an entire new defense still, United have good players but not a huge amount of them for the fixtures that will happen, RS are losing there pressing monster to Barce & Klopp always leaves his team's in bad positions when he leaves & Chelsea might have won the transfer window but we did afew years ago and look where we ended up

Anything could happen

Ancelotti, Mourinho, Pep, Klopp, Arteta, Lampard, Old & others, mix of young and experience, this season will be another crazy one

The most interesting thing is that the spurs in the CIS have a large army of fans. Unlike Everton. And this always surprised me.

If Everton do get all 3 players and if Spurs and Arsenal have a lot of cup football, these are the only two I think Everton would then have a chance of overtaking.

Of the two Manchester teams, Chelsea and the rs, I can only see an outside chance of United imploding but the other 3 are without doubt for me going to be top 4.

I must admit to having overlooked Leicester and everyone else other than Arsenal and Spurs. Up until a week or so ago I thought Everton were going to be mid table. A decent signing for anyone might make a lot of difference up there.
