It depends if ancelotti decides to go with 3 in midfield then you might need a few cms...plus delph might be digne's cover at left back...

Latest reports saying he wanted to come here last summer and we bid 36 mill. We are interested again, but wont pay over the odds, Watford looking for between 25-30 million.

I say we drag our heels here, Watford now on Championship money will want to reduce their wage bill and get fund into the club. Let them pay him PL wages for the summer and wonder will we firm up our interest and get money for their own plans in the Championship, singing Allan will help us to not seem desperate. All the while knowing the player wants to come here.

I think personally we will keep Davis due to the homegrown players rule. But like the sound of this Watford lad and Allen.

He wanted to leave anyway never mind now being in the championship, they'll want his wages off the books as well.

Would he a good addition NEA, someone with a bit of pace in the middle to get up and down, we have without doubt the slowest CMS in the prem. Him and allan would be a very good start to the window, if we can get a rb and winger donell, as well getting rid of some of the crabs I'll be happy

Gordon came up playing wide or up top. Maybe he could play #10 but prefer feels a step too far.

While we are on the subject Watford had to move Doucoure out of DM and into a #10 role to have any success last year. Make of it what you will.

Gomes with the right players around him will be great. He’s got a great passing range and I see him as someone who can keep the ball moving which we haven’t really had since Barry.

Your main relevant point is that you don’t rate Gomes.

I do, especially with the right players around him.

Its not about me 'rating' Gbamin, its the players profile of being a DM. Id rather setup with an athletic player as an anchor with 2 players pressing in front.

Gomes in a deep positon is a massive liabiliyy imo and would be giving away free kicks around the box.

Has Gomes ever been a tempo changing player or a playmaker? Hes never played well deep that i can remember, best at Valencia as a ball carrying centre midfielder. Hes not seemed to do that with us but when he has hes been effective and looked good.

If we got Gabriel in (looking unlikely now) and Allan + Doucoure we wouldnt really need Gomes deep and could go with a more attacking system.

The 2 right backs linked arent going to pull up any trees and get up/down. They would need a player in front of them. Not Digne or anything better than average and we'd be targeted there.

I like the idea of a deep playmaker, i just dont see Gomes as that player. Youre talking about the fulcrum of the team...they need to be your best player.
