I think my favourite reason someone offered for keeping Davies this summer was that he is good friends with DCL and Holgate.

I think Davies's friendship with DCL and Holgate is the least of our worries at the moment to be honest.

Unsettling some other players would be good. Sends out a clear message to everyone about keeping up standards.

As far as I remember isn't is it Guardiola who has a reputation of doing something like this? As soon as he starts a new job he sends one or two of the big names (who may be slacking) to orbit.
