I don't see an issue paying what's been quoted for Allan. We need a rock in the middle of the pitch and if Ancelotti feels that the rock is Allan then who am I to argue. I'll probably get loads of names thrown at me now but who could we realistically sign that's as good as him for much less than the quoted fee and similar experience?

I get that but if Ancelotti wants a reliable player in midfield that he knows, it could be the difference between making Europe next season and being in this situation again -- unable to attract younger targets even if we offer more money.

I'm aiming it more at how big is our pot. If this is all of it then... be a bit of a short-sighted move IMO.

And yet one of the biggest complaints we have had in recent times is being soft, not playing hard ball and overpaying and now you are suggesing we cough up at the first hurdle. Can't have it boths ways. We should buy at the price we want or walk away... that's how Levy got Hojbjerg for £15m when we allegedly offered a deal for vastly more, our reputation preceeds us - time to change that impression or we will continually be rinsed, even if it means missing out on a few.
