Honestly thought we were perfect for the Sheffield ale house snides.

Pleasantly surprised by our performance, good result, even better effort.

Despite everything that has been poor and disappointing about this season, there remain positives to feel confident about. (I am a glass half full person, I can’t help it).
1) the lockdown has had a wonderful effect on our defence who have looked very good on the whole, despite being ‘protected’ by a midfield with the tensile strength of a wet fart.
2) We seem to have our Diane back, after spending a time looking lost / fed up, he is now back to season 1 form.
the lads who have been introduced have looked comfortable in the system. Testimony to work down behind the scenes to tie the footballing styles together to make it easier for them to fit in when they step up,
3) a lot of the dross has gone ( admittedly, a lot is still there)
4) Richy still looks happy to be here despite his Supply lines from midfield being the Worst in living memory
5) we are about to enter our fist transfer window with Carlo in charge

....most posters disgruntled at the team announcement, yet the abandonment of 4-4-2 suited this group of players much more. Square pegs, round holes. Sigurdsson more effective in a no10 role, Gomes and Davies looking far less exposed with him in front and the team better balanced with Richarlison and Walcott in wide positions.

i’m very surprised Ancelotti has not gone for this before but I’d be surprised if he doesn’t stay with it for the last game.

Difficult side to beat are Sheffield United, so that was a good win and I think City are the only team to do the double over us this season which is a positive.

If you'd asked me about Keane 10 games ago and I'd have had my head in my hands. But whatever has happened since he now looks undroppable in the heart of that defence. Winning everything in the air. Organising the back 4. Just plain solid.

....he’s become a father. I genuinely think its no coincidence that he’s looking much more assured.

I thought that Sheffield United last night and all this season proved what a detestable lot that they are,
fouling, faking and cheating, their contribution to the premiership has been Zilch, in fact their only
contribution over the years has been this young Man Utd goalie, Tony Currie and lifelong supporter Peter
Sutcliffe.

We have won a game nobody here thought we had a chance in but ultimately means nothing as the season has been another load of crap. Give it a rest.

Don't you just love it when we lose and play badly we're poor, but when we beat a side like Sheffield United away the opposition we're poor.

I agree with this and the only area in defence we need to sort out is right back. Can Kenny provide the answer here?
If we can move on a few more of the midfield time wasters like Bernard, Davies, Iwobi, Delph & Siggs (had a reasonable game I know but still far too many when he's been missing) then we could hopefully bring in a couple who would actually perform at this level. Still not sure how we get rid of them all though. Just pray someone is stupid enough to buy them.

I know nobody is allowed to say anything nice about him anymore (justifiably for the most part) but that free kick off Siggs for Richy’s goal was absolutely perfect.

Gave MOM to the youngster Jarrad , great performance for a young lad
Keane put in another solid game , seems to thrive with the added responsibility
Gomes had a welcomed positive performance as previous games he looked out of sorts even labouring

As I said though I still think it is fair to be disappointed in an attack on par with Palace and Brighton. I'm not looking for Man City.

Well, that made for a nice change, and we were definitely the better side. Better still, the torture of this farcical restarted season is almost over. While t'Blades have had a very good season and will finish comfortably above us, that alehouse side are a great marker of how dire the standard is in the prem, especially this season. They're just another Burnley, essentially, and I think their second season will be a bit trickier now others have sussed them out a bit, which seems to have happened since the restart. Europe would have really stretched and distracted them, so I think they've dodged a bullet there. Horrible ungracious manager being led by the reporter into alluding that his entire squad cost less than Richarlison's big toe, etc.

I don't contribute to the abuse for Sheff Utd on here. Sheffield is a big northern city and it is good to see them in the PL. Much prefer the likes of Sheff Utd to yet another London club or to such southern teams as Palace, Watford, Brighton etc.
