Usmanov

The current TV deal wouldn't allow that to happen. However, we shouldn't underestimate how important the Premier League is to the likes of Sky. You have to look at how Sky's position has softened regarding rebates being deferred.

The last thing we need is for the bigger clubs with worldwide fanbases to be allowed to negotiate their own TV deals. If that happens we will end up mirroring Spain or Scotland.

Absolutely. That happening would be equivalent to the league being formally split into two divisions - haves and have nots, and would potentially consign us permentantly to also-ran status.

On the wider topic of Usmanov, figuratively but not literally speaking, it's amusing to see him described as our (de-facto) owner in some quarters. He absolutely is not, legally or otherwise.

Because it's access to money at a ridiculously low interest rate, every club should be going for it, 0.5% interest on a loan that's almost free money. Banks would pay out 2% maybe more interest on that kind of money over a long period, lash the whole lot into the bank and they could end up profiting from it.
You still have to pay back the money borrowed.
It was the low interest rates and interest only loans that helped land our economy in the manure a decade ago.

It makes me laugh this article. Most of the hospitality areas had to pay 5 years up front just to get their tickets. Loss of hospitality income indeed!! The income from that went to pay for the stadium.
You've just borrowed at a hopefully low rate...low-ish single figures, who actually knows, then you can get £175M @ 0.5%...its practically free money.
For instance...
BMD aka, £600M
@ 1.0% over 30 yrs is £2M a month - we should be so lucky
@ 2.0% over 30 yrs is £2.22M
@ 3.0 = £2.53M a month
@ 4.0 = £2.8M a month...total over 30yrs in round figures £1B.

And I'm sure Levy and Moshiri know some Accountancy wangles to help things along

That has nothing to do with how wealthy our chairman is. Have a look at the article below.

Moshiri's wealth comes from Usmanov. Also the money used to buy EFC was Usmanovs money.

Whilst not officially our owner its definitely conceivable that he is our defacto owner considering all the sponsership deals / USM naming rights, paying £30 million to be at the front of a non existent que etc.

Unless usmanov has arrived then we most certainly have not. Mosh is well down the list in 12th place I believe. We're behind Crystal Palace and Wolves and Leicester to name but a few.

I am surprised he is as high as that in the rankings.

As our good friend @davek famously remarked on one occasion, he is “the poorest billionaire in the world” lol

That is still my favourite Davekism...and there many to choose from :)

I do agree with some of that, but it's Moshiri's name above the door, and he isn't worth as much as most of the other owners.
