ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

They are demanding those, but there's no chance they were ever buying them.

The reality is they have maxed the credit card out on their wage bill. They can't afford transfer fees hence why they've had to scale it back, and probably needed to sacrifice a player to makes ends meet with the wages.

Their wage bill is 58% of turnover ours is 85%.

Why would they need to sell a player to make ends meet when they have made a profit of £167m over the last two accounting periods. Over that period we have made a loss of £125m.

As usual, you are completely ignoring reality.

The reality is that commercial revenues are going to collapse, gate receipts are none existent, potentially no European payments for last year and maybe next year (or at best heavily reduced). They are losing 9 million a week for over 3 months and have an enormous wage bill. That's the reality.

Thats before we factor in an ownership horrible exposed in America, and who may need to leverage cash from the football club to keep themselves going.

Isn't that the same for all clubs?

Gate receipts for any premier League club is a drop in the ocean compared to the TV money?

But unless Usmanov somehow manages to somehow launder more money in, like all clubs Everton will also be in trouble.

Essentially yes. Conventionally Everton are already in trouble. However the owners seem very relaxed about it, so much so that they have turned down an offer of £85 for a player (and refused to go to the negotiating table). So however bad it looks, they are not overly concerned.

The point with Liverpool is not just that they are in trouble, but their finances are going to change radically. I'd also add in the additional cavaet that they really struggle when they have a bit of financial hardship.

Business who tend to go from running fairly well, to being in trouble often find it difficult to adjust. Their fans are just not processing it. They will parrot the 58& wages to turnover, or the profits they made 2 years ago (before wages increased by about 100m and broke the transfer record for 2 positions). They have relied on very high commercial, merchandising, sponsorship, gate and European revenues. These are all going to be decimated coming up.

You sum it up well too though. Usmanov may keep pumping in money whatever happens. For a variety of reasons I don't see FSG doing that. Probably the opposite.

Commercial revenues are based on contracts, so I think it is a massive assumption to state they will not be paid. Gate receipts will affect everyone. As for no European payments what the hell are you basing that on.

Was that the offer for Richarlison?

That was before this virus hit wasn't it?
