TV Series

Have seen the others mentioned but not spiral...is it on netflix? Dirty cops?

Spiral (Engrenages) is absolutely amazing mate. It's about a Paris crime unit but also has main characters from the judicial system, lawyers and judges.

Great plot, acting and an interesting insight into how the legal system works over there because there are marked differences with ours and the relationship between police and judge etc.

No I just checked online and I think it was on netflix US but not sure anymore.

I watched it all on BBC4 and the iplayer but it doesn't seem to be on there now.

Well worth a stream or download if you can find it anywhere though. There's 7 seasons and all of them were absolute class.

Finished the entire 6 seasons of Lost.

First season was exceptional.. then it's less consistently excellent for the remainder of its run, but I honestly enjoyed every season, and overall it is rightly considered one of the best shows ever made.

I thought the last season was utter garbage.

The first few were just superb then I think they just started making things and it turned to utter tosh.

I think the dialogue is based about ulthred rather than everyone else.

So he always has a companion , the nun and female interest.

I agree timing is off , no explanation on gap between 1 and 2 , Alfred's daughter ages 10 years but that doesn't pass in the show. One of these that you have to forget logic and enjoy rather than hold it accountable

Vikings does it differently and establishes characters over a season rather than expect you to assume straight away for pacing .
The books it's based on are basically entirely Uhtred's POV and he is mostly a plot device and camera for the readers to get to see all of these battles between the Saxons and Vikings. They've done a good job fleshing out some of the other perspectives for some of the characters(like the royal family and some Brdia) but others suffer from the quick pace of the show (his crew).

The series has always been about getting to the action and is formulaic with a baddy and a battle. It's not really a hugely character/dialogue driven series as far as the books go.
