Hilarious. If so, then what is the actual point of bothering to play out the remaining quarter of the season?

Simply:

A) Money from broadcasters (pure greed), and
B) Forcing the season to some kind of conclusion just so Liverpool can “win” the league

Integrity would be right out of the window. Utter utter shambles if this goes ahead.
Why on Earth would you force clubs to finish the season if there's no point to it?

There is no incentive for those in the relegation zone to play. If they don’t play they cannot be relegated. If they play they may be. They have been given the greatest of get out cards and would be stupid to play on, especially at ‘neutral’ grounds. It’s over and eventually the EPL will understand it.......roll on next season......

I have just read on the BBC website that the teams at the bottom of the league have said that they will play if they are guaranteed not to be relegated.
This just keeps geting more and more bizarre as each day passes. Just what on earth would the point be in that? So apart from the
CL league placings every single game will in effect will be a dead rubber. Where is 'the integrity of the league' in that idea - teams simply playing each other for the sake of playing each other? If this goes ahead then football is well and truly done.

Premier League to be decided by 24hr non-stop 'Heads and Volleys' tournament. All teams to play on the same pitch rotationally following a 'three and in' format during which 'goalie in and out' is to be invoked. No relegation shall take place however the three worst teams following the tournament's conclusion will be subject to either 'tunnel of death' or 'the beats'.

Try and make under 5's not touch another person for a whole day. There's going to be contact especially in nurserys.
My wife is a teacher. Schools in WA have just reopened after the easter break. Attendance is not compulsory, parents have the option of having remote lessons for their kids. Within the school, groups of kids dont have to socially distance, but as soon as they step out of the school, they do. It seems absurd, but it is based on science along with a risk assessment designed to try and keep some semblence of economy ticking along.

Football is a pastime. It actively encourages close contact and physical contact. Having a game of football does not enable millions of parents to be able to work (if they are lucky enough to still have a job). No risk assessment would encourage that to happen.

I realise you are just playing devils advocate and don't really believe the arguments you are putting forward. I know this because the only people I have read making those arguments seriously are those that are desperate for liverpool to get given a trophy.

With border closures, or at best lengthy quarantine periods, there likely won't be any european games next season, so every single game would be a dead rubber.

As a koppite interloper might say, "it's free money"

As a teacher, I have heard that if and when schools reopen, it will be half or even less of a year group for half the week on a rotation system. Children will be prioritised in some areas by the jobs their parents have.

I go in once a week and teach key worker children and that is about 6 children in a class and i think over the day, at least ten times, I had to remind the children to keep a 2m distance from each other. There is no way we will suddenly see schools open and all children back. I doubt the whole school will be back until September.

My friend at Uni has also heard from his union that there will be no face to face teaching until January so he plans to defer a year as he finds studying from home so difficult.

Agree, maybe its to fulfill the TV deal.

Looking at this though you can understand why Brighton dont want neutral venues. Some of their rivals may have already had home advantage against the teams below and will now have their away games at neutral grounds. Thats an advantage.

Brighton are 15th in the league, two points above the relegation zone, with nine games left to play - including home fixtures against Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City.

If us/City were fighting Liverpool for the league for instance, we would have both played at Anfield and lost points. Yet we would now be expected to play the reverse fixture, a potential 6 pointer in a title race, at a random ground without our fans and home advantage.

I can fully understand them not agreeing, its the future of their club at stake. Maybe losing £30mill tv deal for instance, is the better option for them than going down, losing over £100mill, having players on massive wages with probably no way in the current climate to offload them for decent money, no gate money coming in, whilst also now playing in a league thats strapped for cash itself.

They are doing whats best for their club.
