Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Yes it's certainly a good time to put money into football. However if the general impression was around £150m a season, certainly pre-crisis you won't be moving up the league substantially on that alone.

The reference to post Covid, as anything is possible. £150m a season could quite quickly become massive money.

I do wonder what the impact of oil price collapse will have on City/Newcastle though.
Other pieces paint a bleaker picture. I would assume that the wealth of the Sovereign Funds is so stratospheric it won't be damaged too much, but their income may be?

You point to where I've said he hasn't done well? Or are you just after some sweet sweet internet points?

Here

I think you're being harsh on Benitez there. He's spent a lot of money, but he had to overhaul a team to prepare it for a return to the Premier League, then add to it to try and keep us up, which he did. Bruce has played some of the worst football I've ever seen watching Newcastle and that anecdotal claim is born out by whichever performance metrics you care to trust. We've got more points this season, but the entire league has been weird so I wouldn't praise Bruce too much.

And here

Bruce wasn't welcomed by the Newcastle fanbase because he's been proven to be one of the worst Premier League managers of all time. The performances of the team this season have born that out. The reception has warmed slightly as results have ticked by, but he remains a poor football manager at this level.

Hat's off to Sky again this morning, they were supposed to be discussing the proposed Barcodes takeover, but after 2 minutes of waffle, they asked Souness and Carragher,

'Where Do Liverpool go from Here?'

It's become absolutely embarrassing.
