ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Rumours of lots of bets placed for him to be named player of the year which is why he was being interviewed almost every week on match of the day this season. There seems to have been an inordinate number of goodwill stories about him during this period and like you said he’s gone from being recognised as average premier league midfielder to now being included in match off he’d at top ten captains of the premier league era etc.
I accept he may be better than average he’s probably a good player, but that’s about it. If he wasn’t English and wasn’t playing for them he’d not be getting anything like he’s getting now.

Yeah he’s a decent player who can put it about a bit and seems to be able to run extremely hard (much harder than he was able to when he was younger at Sunderland but I’ll leave my tin hat off for the time being). He’s not the top tier though and thats been proven time and time again on the international level when the likes of Pirlo or Modric have just embarrassed him. He’s not got anywhere near the passing range or technique to dictate a game at the highest level. There’s no comparison between him and De Bruyne, absolutely none. I’d have no problem if it was Mane or Van Dijk up against De Bruyne but come in, Henderson is nowhere near that level, he’d be a ridiculous choice.

The amount of people getting in, up and around Jordan Henderson’s arse is ridiculous. Essien, Viera, Makelele, Lampard, Gerrard, Silva, De Bruyne, Beckham, Osman, Scholes and I’m definitely missing loads here have played in the PL and this guy who’s been good yes, just “good” is getting this many plaudits. Game is done tbh.
the Bob Geldof of football, he was a prick before and will be a prick after his good deed.

Oh, look how close I was to bbc doing an article on Sadio mane's yellow stripe in his hair.
That clown needs to give up, his hair has receded so far he’s going to be painting a stripe on his neck soon, the black Ian Wilson

Jordan Henderson is not a top echelon midfielder. The only arguments for him to be the best midfielder in a league with De Bruyne, Silva and 3 or 5 others that'll come to me after coffee are the he plays for a side that wins a lot, that he "works hard" in the style English football writers love, and plays in a side that dont play through the middle.

A faux hard man.

It will be interesting to see how much this NHS fund makes.

On a rough estimate the Premier league players are paid a total of just over £20m per week between them all.

Their places of work are closed. Virtually everyone else in the country in that position is living off a max of £2.5k per month.

I am just very cynical about this whole PR exercise.

In all honesty, this rant probably belongs in a different thread as it is not specifically about the RS and in all fairness I think Henderson is trying to be decent (average midfielder though).

Jordan Henderson winning Sports Personality of the Year would prove two things beyond all reasonable doubt.
1. Wearing the maroon shirt of the rs means that you are immune from being a total bell in the eyes of the media.
2. You don't have to have a personality to win it.
Just saying.

Didn't Ryan Giggs prove that a few years ago?

Damon Hill proved point number 2 years ago, mate.
