ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Not being funny, but isnt your club pretty much funded by tax payers money? Or the wealth of another country, which is kinda the same thing.

No. It is privately funded by the owner 100%. It is not a sovereign wealth fund. Please don't fall for the media agenda.
The stadium is owned by the club and it pays a royalty above 33,000 people attending every game to the council.
The council have made a fortune since the takeover in 2008 (and good on them for that). No tax payers money in the club.
The club also paid for the extensive refurbishment of the stadium after the Commonwealth games and handed over Maine Road
and all of the land to the council for public use.
No taxpayers money at all. If we Furlough staff I'll never set foot in the place again. Fact.

But you could argue City are being run as a business and PR vehicle for their owners to provide financial and non-financial benefits. It's not a private company that should be highly profitable cutting costs and charging that to the British taxpayer.

Fair enough to hiim ^

The amount of the mutants trying to justify it is horrifying though.

Don't know what I'm surprised - "Suarez is Innocent" after all.

The club will likely back down and all the mutants you mention will applaud them for "listening" and then bang on about how they invented socialism again. Before digging up the CGI corpse of Shankly to stand alongside Paisley for their sponsors next TV advert.

The amount of investment the club has put into what was a highly deprived part of Manchester is off the scale.
It never gets publicised and the club do not seek publicity for it. The club is profitable in its own right and has zero debt.
It is probably the best run club in all of British football from top to bottom.

Why are certain "business's" allowed to only furlough the lowest paid staff, surely if you are asking for this government help it should be across the board, from highest to lowest earners

Its capped at a max of £2,500 a month.

Not sure many footballers on £150k a week would be happy with two and a half grand before tax.
