The article written by Eva Carneiro (formerly Chelsea doctor) stated this
"Professional players have been shown to be regularly immunosuppressed.
“This has been demonstrated by both blood tests and the rate and incidence of upper respiratory tract and other infections, which is how a virus like this starts.
“That's due to the amount of sport they play. The physical activity, playing at a professional level, with games sometimes every 72 hours, as well as training, creates a strain on the body.”
So if players have weaker immune systems and most of them are not covered with their insurance if they willingly play during a pandemic snd something happens, I cant see them agreeing to start up again in any form until its safe for them as they are the ones being risked for other peoples amusement and money.
Amazing, they said at 10 they had some embargoed news, classic. Cundy hates kopitesTalksport now is pure gold. Kopites heads falling off AOTS with Cundy/Goldstein saying big red gonna be awarded a half title and a little trophy
Defo an April fools wind up too.
Superb stuff
Goldstein hates them too.Amazing, they said at 10 they had some embargoed news, classic. Cundy hates kopites
It's very sad to say that I don't think you are in a tiny minority .Spot on.
I used to hate summers because there was no football.
I counted the Saturdays down all through June and July.
Now I enjoy summer because of the lack of football.
I used to hate international breaks with a passion.
Now I appreciate the respite.
And right now I am not missing the football one little bit.
The drug has indeed worn off for me.
Muamba didn't die though mate. Was saying this to my mate today who didn’t believe me that footie players are in a way too fit. Came about with the Muamba death initially.
The reality is Clough was right TV would ruin football, the problem with so much money coming from the TV companies is naturally clubs like United and Liverpool too a lesser extent Arsenal and Chelsea who have large numbers of armchair supporters receive dodgy decisions, because if those teams don't do well less fans will watch them and that will be less money for Sky and the premier league. Also Anfield is now Liverpool's number 1 tourist attractions, which means there's now even more incentive for them to do well. You had people offering 10,000 plus for Liverpool v Chelsea tickets, which is just ridiculous. Liverpool have to offer local fans a certain amount of tickets at Anfield for reduced prices, every game the area is full of tourists who have spent £300 plus for their tickets. The lengths the Premier League are going to, in an attempt to finish this season are both obscene and immoral.
They have effectively admitted that it is about money and only money. The health of anyone, be it the players, fans,
staff, medics etc is of no concern to them whatsoever. It is truly disgraceful. I have been a season ticket holder at City
since 1983 and went to my first game in 1968 and I am sickened by what is happening or what is being tried to make things
happen. Like a lot of football fans I have become more and more disillusioned in recent years with football and in particular
the Premier League. However, for me, things have now reached the limit. Like others on here, I haven't actually missed football
anywhere near as much as I thought it would. Maybe my disillusionment was far more acute than I thought? The biased media
coverage, the ridiculous kick off times, the way VAR has been used to corrupt the game and now these latest antics...
For me enough is enough. I currently have a 'Gold' season ticket at the Etihad which costs me £299 a season. Absolutely
fantastic value to watch the players I watch and the football that Guardiola plays - that is with doubt. However, I am very,
very seriously considering not renewing it. I can watch all of the games on my streaming box (I have refused to subscribe
to SKY Sports for many years and never will) and not have the hassle that comes with these silly kick off times. That is
what football has become to me nowadays - a hassle. I'm tired of changing and altering my plans in an attempt to accomodate
a 90 minute game of football which has effectively been ruined by VAR before it even starts. Earlier this season Aguero
scored a superb goal at the Etihad and he didn't even bother to celebrate and none of the other City players did either.
They and we all knew we would have to wait for the VAR ruling. The ball was placed back on the centre spot, the teams lined
up for the kick off and we all waited 3 minutes for the ruling. Thats a long time for the players and fans inside a stadium
to wait in silence. The goal was eventually awarded and the game kicked off again. That was it for me and I know for a lot
of other people in the stadium the game of football we once knew is dead. You now having the people who run the game
behaving absolutely disgracefully with numerous half baked plans to resume the season regardless of any of the potential
consequences. They are scared to death that they will have to refund the broadcasters £762m. That sounds a lot of money.
However, against the cost to the economy that the Coronavirus has wreaked it is absolutely peanuts. It is small change and it
is being done without any real regard for human life. Award the title to Livarpool - who actually cares one jot anymore?
It is meaningless. It is hollow it really is not important when hundreds of people are dying an agonising death each day in
hospital without even having their loved ones with them to console them. But hey, its all about the money.
The game stinks from top to bottom. Enough is enough. Football is the game that got so greedy it actually did eat itself...
This can't be right ?Also Anfield is now Liverpool's number 1 tourist attractions,
Smaller teams such as Villa. I would say they are bigger than Leeds Newcastle an Sunderland. All the rest I agree with tho. VAR this season has just hi lighted how corrupt the premier league is.The reality is Clough was right TV would ruin football, the problem with so much money coming from the TV companies is naturally clubs like United and Liverpool too a lesser extent Arsenal and Chelsea who have large numbers of armchair supporters receive dodgy decisions, because if those teams don't do well less fans will watch them and that will be less money for Sky and the premier league. Also Anfield is now Liverpool's number 1 tourist attractions, which means there's now even more incentive for them to do well. Liverpool have to offer local fans a certain amount of tickets at Anfield for reduced prices, every game the area is full of tourists who have spent £300 plus for their tickets.
The great thing about football in this country is it's tribal clubs like Everton, City, Leeds, Newcastle, Sunderland, and small teams such as Villa, the steel city clubs, and a variety of other clubs have a loyal following who will follow them through thick and thin. The problem I've now is you have whole load of glory hunters following Liverpool in particular, I've saw about 3 coaches from Leicester going towards their ground last season around January, naturally I thought they were Leicester fans, but no all of them were Liverpool fans. How are clubs like let's say Millwall, Charlton, Palace meant to compete when all so many divvies in London follow Liverpool or United. It's turned being a supporter into being a fan of a music group or a basketball club.
Football has simply become like wrestling, it's boring and predictable, is anybody surprised when Liverpool get a last minute goal or a dodgy penalty. Everton have had numerous attempts to challenge Liverpool yet haven't, largely because of dodgy refereeing. When we did challenge them, unsurprisingly decisions wetn against us, Collina disallowing Ferguson's goal. The infamous Clattenburg game, when they were given a penalty for a challenge outside the box, he was going to give Hibbert a yellow until Gerrard spoke to him and gave Hibbert a red. Then Dirk Kuyt wasn't sent off for a waist high karate kick on Phil Neville, then to cap it off Carragher assaulted Joleon Lescott in the penalty box, yet it wasn't a penalty. Somehow James Vaughan got a goal chalked off for offside, when the ball was passed backwards to him. Then we had Distin's goal disallowed because Reina walked into Anichebe. Add to that the hypocrisy of UEFA, regarding their fans marvellous behaviour, if Red Star Belgrade fans had attacked Liverpool's coach, UEFA would of banned them for years, yet when it's Liverpool it's fine. Also the fact that Liverpool allowed their fans to greet the coaches only a few weeks later against Roma.
As you say their desire to continue to play the league is why they are universally hated, they are the only team in the league who want to continue, they're happy for important resources to diverted away from those truly in need, because of their desire to win their ill gotten gains. Even Leeds fans aren't bothered about the season being void, and their fans aren't exactly known for being sensible. They are living in cloud cuckoo land if they think the season is going to continue, as if clubs lower down the table are going to risk their premier league status by losing home advantage due to playing behind closed doors, just so Liverpool fans can drink their own piss out of cans, in front of fellow mutants, or push innocent people into fountains.
Unfortunately in the last year it has been. This can't be right ?
