Cancelling this season's Premier League

Should football be canceled until August and this season declared null and void?

Odds on now.

The last bit of the article was quite telling.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have reiterated their commitment to completing the current Premier League season but have informed season ticket holders they can expect a pro-rata rebate or refund if matches are played behind closed doors or cancelled. The club “fully supports the collective intent to complete the Premier League, FA Cup and the Uefa club competitions”, it stated on Friday, following reports that a growing number of Premier League clubs want to end the campaign with immediate effect".

Seems like this season is finished.

I wonder if one of the reasons for voiding this season now and getting ready for the next, instead of binning next season to finish this one is because if next season doesnt go ahead as planned then the tv rights/placement money wont be paid oit at all to all clubs?

Sky/BT have shown all but 9 weeks of their tv games and so a massive portion of this seasons tv rights have been fulfilled. Imagine if a whole season is written off?

100%.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Premier League negotiate a "sweetener" and give BT and Sky more games next year or over the terms of their contract as a thank you tbh.

£25m lost compared to £125m lost is a big big difference.
