ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

In every other work situation its the legal responsibilty of an employer to minimise risk to the staff.
I am quite amazed that anyone should suggest an employee should take any risk when it is completely unnecessary.
The are jobs out there were the risks are huge (dentist, doctors, nurses, paramedics etc being right in the front line). They are pretty much nailed on to be vulnerable.
Why is it so important to force players to be in a situation that is not in anyway neccessary?
The players need to be told the season is over, go home, stay safe etc. Not worrying about if they might be being exposed to this virus.

Exactly. As much as I like football, it's not exactly critical to everyday life is it? In a fully functioning world, it's great, but in a time of uncertainty with potentially disastrous repercussions, it ain't needed.

Ceferin coming out saying that if league’s can’t complete then they won’t be honouring who is number 1 at the moment. How dare he not tow the party line. Watch the PL now disgrace itself trying to hold some garbled version of football in amongst a pandemic to get all this done by June.

This, there is not a risk assessment you could make that could minimize risk to multi million pound assets.
Health comes first, that's why its called health and safety and not safety and health, it's not because it rolls off the tongue nicely.
Health is the first thing you learn at a NEBOSH course, same as if you wish to become IOSH accredited.

Unless they play in Hazmat suits I cannot see how risk could be reduced to an acceptable level, which is what a risk assessment is all about.
As you say, every employee is entitled to a safe system of work and a safe place of work, there is none as far as a game of football is concerned.
Hugs, kissing, handsahkes etc can be ruled out. You can ask the players not to do it, fair enough.
But sweat flying about and contact at the likes of free kicks and corners is a different matter.
That's without thinking of changing facilities, showers, toilets and the rest of it.

the PL could enforce the resumption of the league, but if all the players say no, what can they do? void all the games and declare the RS as winners? they probably will.

Final 10 games are now, apparently, more important than the next 38

Neither is important. What's important is getting on top of and defeating a global virus that is killing thousands and thousands of people.

Whether or not the red shirts get to be the best footballists in all the land is neither here or there in the grand scheme of things.

That said, theres no point in completing this year.

The PL can’t enforce the resumption if it goes against the health and safety of the players. They would be hit with so many legal cases it would take years to resolve them. Only when the government give the all clear will we see football in this country again.

Used to think you couldn't get worse than Chelsea fans waving £50 notes but this guy's "I'm so rich I can waste toilet paper" act is really winding me up
