:pint: :pint: whatever drinks all around

back to moaning suits

diving is bad, I hate diving, and i feel rotten when a team that I want to win wins because of it, thankfully it doesn't happy very often. I've been sent off on more than one occasion myself, because when i meet a diver, i have a tendency to give them a real reason to go to the ground.

we didn't win that arsenal game because of a dive though. there was no cheating involved, we kept the ball the [Poor language removed] out of our goal, and we put it in theirs, end of story. I don't care about possession stats or any of that bullshit, if everton dominate possession and create numerous chances but still end up losing because of stupid errors, then i'll feel gutted but i won't feel robbed, because it's our own damn fault.

the only time i feel it's acceptable to say we're robbed is if the game is lost because of diving and poor referee decisions (ex. the derby). I'm not the kind of fan who says we're robbed when we play better for 89 minutes, and give it away at the end, at those times i feel dissapointed that the team couldn't see it through, which is why i feel no sympathy for people like the moronic gooners who felt they were robbed when we pulled one out at the end.

wait i forgot where i was goin with this, but i think you see the point somewhere.

My bollocks attempt at some math. If we finish the season on the exact form we have started (first 17 games), we will end up with 65.06 points (I think). That includes our crap run towards the beginning.

Not too shabby. I do realise we still have to play the second half of the season, but I have high expectations on our final league placing come May!

Chico, accept this mere morsel from an elder, get so pissed that you can't concentrate, look at a lit light bulb for 22 seconds, open your eyes and Pink Nelly will be there, give her my love she likes guinness:pint: :pint: :pint: :pint: :pint: :pint:

I

want

more.

We all do. That's entirely natural, after all who is really satisfied with 6th in the league, and the Uefa cup knockouts and Carling Cup semis? But what the rest of us realise is that we can't just get straight to where we want, no deserve to be, at the top of the league, blazing through Champ League group stages, and in the FA Cup Final. This is all a necessary stepping stone.

Think of it like this. Would you rather be - us, or Blackburn after Jack Walker bought them the title? Ipswich when the got into Europe? Newcastle (ever! :P) or god forbid Leeds?

Man Utd started with Fergie 17 odd years ago, they struggled, started off winning small things (Cup Winners Cup - how does that rate on your scale?! :P), but they persevered, were patient, and have been winning consistently ever since. This is what i want for my team. Not instant flash-in-the-pan success. And the way we are going is the right way to do it, and Carling Cups and Uefa Cups are the exact right stepping stones we need and should want and celebrate.

you have done it again...

speak for 'YOU' not 'the rest of us'.

6th in the league? - the season isnt finished
uefa knock outs is fine at this moment in time
carling cup semis is fine but is certainly no guarantee of anything except more games in the least prestigious competition it is possible to play in during a season.

i refuse to think about anything in terms of other sides.

cup winners cup doesnt exist anymore.

you consider the cups as stepping stones, i consider them extra games, europe i can handle - but injuries, fatigue, and bookings all add up.

its about risk versus reward for me. i dont recall mentioning flash in the pan success, nor making disparaging comments about perseverance, patience, and winning consistently.

When other people, who judging by the posts in this thread largely seem to agree with me, tell me to do so then i will. If i am not to speak for 'the rest of us' then why are you?

6th in the league? - the season isnt finished Really? And i thought it had?
uefa knock outs is fine at this moment in time Good, you're finally coming round

cup winners cup doesnt exist anymore. Again, you got me there. I mean, i really thought it still was around, just you never heard about it. But still, care to answer my question? Do you even get my point?

you consider the cups as stepping stones, i consider them extra games, europe i can handle - but injuries, fatigue, and bookings all add up. Fair enough, i can see your point, and agree to some extent.

I know you didn't. But to jump to the level you demand now would lead to us becoming such a case, if you ask me. Blackburn, Ipswich, Newcastle and Leeds all had meteoric rises to fleeting success in the last decade, and now two of them are flailing in the lower leagues having been in seriously dire situations, whilst Newcastle continue to be a running joke. Blackburn are the only one of those who are really in a decent position, somewhat simialr to ours, but even they had to survive relegation and re-promotion to get to where they are.

i havnt spoken for anyone else, you used the term ''rest of us'' - im not pigheaded enough to take such a liberty. i am confident in my opinion and only my opinion.

sort yourself out.

maybe not to take such a liberty as you mention but you certainly seem pigheaded.

You refuse to acknowledge that my quotes of what you wrote were factually correct (with the exception of inhuman instead of human). You refuse to ever reconsider a position you adopt. You've been selectively hypocritical about the UEFA cup in this thread - don't mind that, pity you can't overcome your own ego to admit it. Dogmatic, stubborn, pigheaded, obstinate, - ever change your mind before?

Wisdom isn't a fixed destination, its a journey. It often involves re-evaluation, fresh appraisals, new perspectives as new information comes in.

you seem fixed and calcified in your outlook.

Honestly, if you backtracked it wouldn't be a victory for me, but for you - you'd possibly be letting a bit of the world in you'd never seen before.

yeah i need to take another good look at some of your posts in this thread.

i wonder, how much scorn you have poured on others for some of their postings.

in fairness to philw I've not seen many people on this thread supporting your view that :

...carling cup is a poxy banana republic cup.

or on our current europe successes;

"...we are everton, the uefa cup isnt good enough, like the carling/coca cola/milk/league cup - it is so distant it is an excuse."

in that respect he speaks ostensibly for the majority of us.

Remember when you reply to defend your position with every inch of your life, rather than take back some ill judged words - you decide.

I'll admit I've gone too far, regards character assassination of you suits. Just get a little emotional when I feel my beloved blues are getting criticised at what is a ridiculously good time to be a blue.

Can you swallow your pride also?

Understand the words Hypocricy and Contradiction??

Despite our 'disagreement' the earlier in this thread i haven't attacked you today in the way you have in the last line here, rather i have merely tried to debate our viewpoints. However you seem only to want to **** people off, without responding to honest debate.
