Does anyone have a coherent explanation for why Henderson is being talked about as player of the year when he's not even one of the 5 best players on his own team?

Also when did we just decide it was a fact that Mane is a better player than Salah? Because I don't think that has ever been true.

What I don't get is Salah turned up in 17/18 and was clearly better and neither have really gone up or down a great deal in their level of play and now Mane is better. Doesn't quite add up to me.

And I'm just going by the fact that Salah won all the awards at first. It was widely accepted he was their best attacker at that point.

Henderson is not in a mile their "best" player. But for some reason, he does a job that when he isnt playing, is missed. Kinda like with England in the WC. I am at a loss what it is, but regular RS watchers will probably agree.

I agree. But that doesn't make him player of the season. It doesn't even really mean he's in the running imo. We tried to do this with Fernandinho last year too.

Never in a million years for the first one, but wouldnt be surprised if his teammates recognise what he does for them.

Media just making excuses for them losing, there has to be a reason, why the world's best team ever have lost a few. I know we'll say it's because of Hendo, being out, make him out to be player of the season. About Mane, he does make them tick, for me Salah has never been the same player since Ramos ripped his shoulder off. Be prepared for Salah to be sold off for a near world record fee, what is he now 28 ? His value will soon start to drop.

His value is already dropping given how aging works. But he hasn't really dropped off that much. He slid a little bit because he hasn't been the best finisher that isn't Messi, but he still scores and creates loads. If you didn't think Mane was better at the start of last season I don't really so what would have changed your mind now.
