Yeah kind of. Mind you some of the earlier stuff was alright and I kind of like Achtung Baby.

I suppose considering how big they were/are I should be thinking better of them than them just being alrightish though.

My picks would probably be The Ramones, loads of T-shirts, not so many actual songs and Kiss, fun gimmick but not much behind that.

Never really got Metallica either.

Not sure a punk band can be considered overrated. I mentioned Kiss earlier and totally agree. A couple of decent tunes and a massive gimmick.

Metallica is amazing to me. Especially before they sold out with the Black Album.

Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice for All are all masterpieces in their own way. I would love a remastered version of AJFA with the bass track amped up. It was the first one after Cliff Burton died. Newsted can barely be heard.

There is an 'unofficially' remastered version out there - It's entitled 'And Justice for Jason' and it's a big improvement

They did actually release an official remaster of the album a couple of years ago but the bass is still far too low in the mix of that one

It's just such a powerful album. I think knowing the background to what was going on at the time with Richey adds another layer to it.

You 'think' they are garbage. The fact is, they are not. That is borne out by the music they produced. By their respective abilities on their instruments, and the other instruments they played. By the quality of their compositions. By their arrangements of said compositions. By the harmonies used in said compositions. I don't like everything they did, but it is not all garbage. To say it is displays a complete lack of knowledge and understanding of the different layers involved in their music.

The general definition of over-rated simply means not as good as they have been given credit for. Sorry to disappoint your opinion, but that is definitely not the case the world over, from when they were in existence up to present, and not just from popular music people either. I can post stuff up if you don't believe me.

So many good and diverse songs on that album. Take Taxman and For No One for example. Two tremendous songs but so totally different.

Yellow Submarine always felt a bit out of place on Revolver I reckon, even with the diversity of the album.

Take the time to watch all of this. From a classically trained musician. If you don't know music, this is probably way above your head...




Or perhaps this appraisal. Maybe you dismiss Nile Rodgers views, or John Hall, etc..



Or perhaps the present-day teenagers of the Contemporary Youth Orchestra totally immersed and enjoying this Beatles (Lennon) composition.


But in your opinion, the Beatles are over-rated. Hilarious, mate, hilarious!
