Stones not even in the squad today and badly out of favour at City, think we should definitely look at him in the summer. Ship Keane out and have Mina, Holgate and Stones for our back line. Definitely think it's an option to keep in mind.

Far to much baggage attached to Stones.

He would never be given a chance here.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says defender John Stones will not fulfil his potential until he stays fit for long periods.
Stones is set to start Saturday's FA Cup tie against League Two Port Vale after recovering from his third thigh injury of the season.
The £47.5m signing from Everton has been restricted to 12 appearances this term.

"To reach the potential he has, John has to play regularly," said Guardiola.
"In the last three and a half seasons he couldn't do it."
He has not played in successive games since November and it was 12 months prior to that when he last played more than five games in a row.
"He has to be fit," Guardiola said. "After two or three games he fell down and cannot play.
"We tried to help him. We tried to do the best for him since the first day three and a half years ago. We do everything for him.
"It is difficult to know the reason why. Sometimes you have a tough injury but in the case of John, I don't know why he is not able to be a regular for a long period because he is a young player."
"He's still young and has his future in front of him," said Guardiola.
"It is in his hands and his head to become one of the best. It depends on him."

Question marks then over his ability or desire to play regularly and stay fit. Seems like Guardiola doubts him.

An injury-prone player that is struggling for form and cant perform for 1 of the best teams and managers in europe?

Welcome to Everton John.

It’s annoying how much rubbish we’ve got and how hard they are to shift. Not even that bothered about signings until we’ve had a serious cull.
Brands must surely be working on finding buyers for exactly these types of players now, so that they can be moved on as quickly as possible in the summer window. It won't be an easy task but he is paid a very large sum of money to achieve that precise task. We definitely need some new faces in the summer but we have got to allocate equal priority to reducing the wage bill.

You know its not Brands that sells players, right?

What he does is tell the player hes not needed, then the players Agent rings up all the clubs he wants his client to sign for, then some he doesnt want to play for, then normally finds out that nobody will touch his client with a rusty stick and his client stays at Everton to milk his fat contract.

Love Stones but fitness issues (i think) and also we need a left footer.

Mina + Holgate both right footers and Gibson (on loan) a left footer but would be backup only i think...so one more required.

Could even be an experienced short term 3 year option as Gibson would then be 22 and Branthwaite 20.
