ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Winning the cup, financially speaking, is not as important for a lower division team than an away draw at a top club. Let's say you're Shrewsbury. You've beaten Bristol City at home and you've made 25k in prize money and 45% of the gate of 10,000. You'll get no prize money and 45% of the gate for the Liverpool game too.

Away to Liverpool in the replay you're going to get snotted but you're going to walk away with 45% of the gate of 50 odd thousand at premier league prices.
They have announced that it's £15 for a ticket

Not that I don't believe the fanbase is utterly capable of it you understand.
Found this on the Fb page of one of the few Kopites I allow on my social media ( the bold type is mine)

"Copy & paste from someone else. I fully concur.

The FA allowed Man Utd to jib the competition off to go and play volley ball in Brazil in 00.

The FA allowed all Semi Finals to be held at Wembley this diluting the experience of getting to the final to play at Wembley.

The FA changed kick off times all over the shop and even shifted the final kick off time to 5.30.
The FA allow VAR in some games but not all.
Plenty more they've done but Klopp plays his kids as he's chasing a first league title in 30 years and hopes of retaining the European Cup and he's the 1 showing disrespect to the FA cup?
Full of [Poor language removed] the FA.
Klopp threatens to disregard the cup by not turning up to manage the team?
What about the disregard the FA showed to fans safety when they knowingly held a cup semi final at ground they knew never held a valid safety certificate?"

I cannot believe it. They are using the deaths of 96 people to justify not playing their first team. I can't get into an argument with the poster because I know it will end badly and I don't want to stoop to their level. I am gobsmacked... and a bit sad. He's a lad from Liverpool, not a tourist. he should know better.

I deleted some lad from my Facebook because he never stopped going on about Hillsborough. You could be having a conversation about volcanoes in the south Pacific and he would somehow link it to South Yorkshire Police.

I had a look yesterday and more or less word for word he had said what has been posted above.

hes a bad bell whiff one thing resting players having tge 2nd string to play lots of teams do but not attending to manage them stinks of arrogance. he doesnt need rest doesn't. play but he's having his 'winter break' can't think of any other reason he can't attend the game as managers should other than hes going to turkey see his dentist his railings need a little touch up been clenching his jowls too much and cracked a molar. keeping his anger at bay. then hes off sort his tan poolside.his towel has been on the sun lounger for weeks.

Was one particular newspaper. Noone else blamed them apart from police reports insinuating drunken behaviour
so that twitter quote saying the fa tried to blame liverpool fans is just utter garbage.its one thing being wrong about historic things and getting things wrong accidentally its another ignoring forgetting heysel where they were at fault. but these acts of liverpool fans re-writing history using Hillsborough narrative to justify all they do is the biggest most disrespectful thing that shower do. hypocritical gobshytes

Klopp bleating on about this replay just makes them appear so arrogant and self-obsessed.
Not only are they sore losers, they're pretty unpleasant winners too.
They've turned a massive pay day for Shrewsbury into a few extra quid.

Pulling the financial rug from under Shrewsbury's feet is appalling. How anyone can defend that I do not know.

But the thing about bringing Hillsborough into it defies belief

Although then again with that odious lot, it doesn't really. They were the same on the day itself. Remember those lads running across the pitch gurning at the camera and shouting 'they should have given us more tickets!' I do. While their own supporters were lying on the pitch. 'Me, me, me'. But nobody remembers that.

That sickened me then and the memory of it sickens me now. Everything about that club, from the top to the bottom. players, staff and supporters, is vile.

Hell probably get his way and the FA will bend over and do away with replays. Cult fc don’t give a toss about traditions of cup competitions and want the rules changed to suit them. They’re playing too many games and want a break so they can play more matches in the Far East?

It's galling isn't it? Hillsborough could have happened to the fans of any club at the time, which is why it was such a tragedy... It highlighted the utter disregard everybody had for fans at the time.

But to weaponize it, 30 years later, as somebody with zero connection to it to justify your manager being a petulant sod who can't be arsed turning up to games he feels beneath him is beyond contempt.
