ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I don’t agree with with what Klopp is doing it or has threatened to do. If he wants to play the kids he can, that’s up to him. But not to show his face when the kids are representing the first team and he’s their manager isn’t right. He’s not even trying to hide his thinking of the competition. But what I dont get is all the faux outrage over disrespecting the competition. The FA has been disrespecting the FA Cup, the fans and it’s own tradition for years. Not making it the showpiece at the end of the season, messing around with the kick off times of the final, Premier League games at 3 and the final at 5, the draw, the semi finals at Wembley, forcing UTD out of it to go to another competition etc etc etc. The Cup has been on a steady decline for best part of 20 years. The FA and their chasing of a quick buck is as much to blame as teams not taking it serious enough. I used to love the Cup, now I just can’t get up for it, compared to watching us in a Premier League game v an FA Cup game, I find it quite hard to show it the same level of support.

This around 1999 it was half decent after that it became second rate as more people enjoyed watching cl.
No one has time to watch games anymore.

So their manager will not be in charge for a first team game? The team won’t be full strength?

Seems to want to pick and choose what games he attends. Should be payed part time then.

How disrespectful.

The funny thing is (or not as it was to be expected) how a lot of the media are coming out and defending Klopp. I read a couple today saying that the outrage is on comedic levels, and the other said the jealousy of the RS is behind the vitriol.

Ahh it had to come eventually, horrible horrible people

They are now talking about respect and how they are being accused of not showing respect to the fa in regards to the cup.

Know what their argument is? Go on, have a guess of all things they could bring up to argue the case that they shouldnt have to show respect?

..................

Hilsborough.

That's right, the horrible barstools are using hilsborough just off the cuff like that .

That's what really angers me now. Hilsborough isn't a throwaway reference and should never be.

If that's the case they should hang their heads in shame.

Links?

Not that I don't believe the fanbase is utterly capable of it you understand.

I think it's more about the long term effects rather than this specific tie. We are moving towards the top teams not entering the cup at all as they have other money spinning tournaments to play. Shrewsbury will earn a massive percentage of their annual turnover from this tie. If the rs, man utd, arsenal, even Everton etc end up not even entering the fa cup, or play a reserve team (which means less fans will turn up), teams like Shrewsbury are losing the opportunity for that massive payday. And without the top teams, it loses prestige which means less sponsorship which means less prize money, less tv money etc.

It's what the g12 have been working towards since the 90s and they are now very close to achieving it.
This. It has already appeared that they've significantly lowered their prices for the game, knowing that the allure will be less, which will lower Shrewsbury's earnings.

Tonights Echo has sunk to a new low.

A tragic story of a young man dying, after falling down some hightclub steps in Worcester.

Apparently he was ' a Liverpool fan'.

Cue, revolting and totally non sporting related article.

Nothing surprises me any more where the RS Daily Bugle is concerned. It's just about as low as jounalism can get now. No Evertonian should buy it or even read it.
