ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Got 3 plastics in the office at the moment prattling on about yesterday and how there should not be any FA Cup replays. Yes let's change the rules to suit the institution's club.

I know I shouldn't but when they have officially won the league I will ask them how many games they went to.

Why not, the rules re the Champions League was changed to suit that lot in 2005

I have quite literally written a book about doping in sports. If Liverpool are at it there need to be a number of things at play... Firstly, nobody who knows about this conspiracy would have to ever break ranks on what would be the biggest scandal in British sporting history. Not one disgruntled former employee, player who moved on, shady lab tech...

Secondly, if Liverpool are at it, every Premier League club, or at least those at the top of the tree financially, are at it. Nothing stays secret in elite sport for long and Premier League footballers are actually pretty rigourously testsed, more than any other population of athletes in Britain. I'm sick of banging the drum on the bio passport but it basically rules out the possibility of the "miracle drug nobody else has" because it detects variations int the ratio of different chemicals and hormones in your blood. Unless they are doping in a way which leaves the blood chemistry completely unaltered, or in such miniscule quantities that they aren't tripping the tests then I don't see how they can be.

I do not discount the odd player around the league free-lancing with some dodgy sports scientist, but I do not buy into the idea that any team is running a team-wide doping programme.

My theory? Klopp is going to burn through players who just can't keep that pace up year in year out. They are disposable.
It's just a bit of humour, no need to go into so much detail.

So their manager will not be in charge for a first team game? The team won’t be full strength?

Seems to want to pick and choose what games he attends. Should be payed part time then.

How disrespectful.

Using the pathetic excuse that it’s to keep with the request by the Premier League to not play games during the winter break, when the FA can easily overrule the PL, no less

If the Hobo didn’t want a replay then he should have either played a stronger team, or told the players he had out there to perform better second half

No doubt the cult will point out to us that Fat Sam refused to take charge of a game for us with a scratch team/coach taking his place

It'll be a reasonable whilst whatever they achieve this season, they won't be comparable to the proper great premier league teams of eras gone by.

Obviously the VAR benefits they've had (The 2 goal swing vs City when they were struggling to get a kick which then changed the course of the season for both clubs being the biggest), the help with fixture lists, the poor quality of the opposition who are all in transition and now this. The fact is, they have had to disregard the 2 cups as they aren't good enough to go for all the domestic trophies in 1 season like some of the great sides have. Which Klopp is well aware of.

Obviously mention will go to the United side that pulled out but of the FA Cup but that was done for the benefit of the country not United. United had no interest in the world club cup, they wanted the FA cup. They were forced to go there by the FA as it was in a new format and England were told they had to attend otherwise they wouldn't get the world cup which the FA was bidding for.

Times change
The world club cup is set to be worth a lot more now.
If European clubs are to play in the Club World Cup, it will require enormous sums of money. The talk is of £40m-50m just to take part, with a prize fund on top.

50m to take part and 100m if you win a two week tournament or the fa cup in the middle of the season?

As I said the fa cup wasn't what it once it was, it became so poor the final was played alongside premier League matches.
It used to be on final day the program would start 3 hours early the old black and white video of previous winners, the players jogging outside the old Wembley stadium, legends talking about the fa cup, giant killers, ETC.
Now it's the the Emirates fa cup, something for the smaller leagues to dream of winning, while the premier League rest players.

Another club, dare I say us , would be hauled in front of the fa for pulling a stunt like that.

Literally right now Liverpool are publically announcing that their manager isn't turning up for games and they plan to field weakened teams in the most senior English trophy tournament. Not calling special treatment here but other teams have been fined for playing weakened teams before, let alone managers!

One rule for Liverpool and another rule for everyone else. All because they desperately want them to win the league. Which sounds like a bitter shout but could ancelotti do the same against Watford and get away with it?

United literally pulled out of the FA cup one year. It’s not just Liverpool, the big teams will do what suits them and that’s just the way it is. Hence the winter break argument and all that rubbish.

United were forced out by The FA. They got made to attend the club world cup that they didn't want to go to as England were told they wouldn't get the world cup they were bidding for unless they attended. FIFA were hosting it in a new format with a couple of big European sides being in groups if I remember right.

Probably already been mentioned, but remember when Manure dipped out entirely a few years back, I seem to remember the cult rattling on about how they've devalued the competition.
Should they not win the trophy this year, I await their many totally obsessed keyboard historians annotating the records with "LFC gave winners a free run"
